Angry Birds.. whats the big deal?

I certainly am addicted to AB. If I play it, I find it hard to stop. I introduced it to a colleague and the next day he said he ended up staying up late that evening playing the game. Another friend I let try it on my phone (he doesn't have a smartphone yet) said he can see how it can be addicting and then proceeded to keep playing it for another half hour.

Clearly it is addictive to some people. I happen to not be one of those people. I still don't think it is my place to wonder why someone likes it. There are many things that MILLIONS of people like that I just can't get into. Off the top of my head, farm-ville is one of them. I know people whos parents spend the majority of their time online playing farm-ville.

It's just like Solitaire, even if it's the same thing over and over, it's fun to play.

The last time I enjoyed a game like Angry Birds when I'm playing Fat Princess

idk personally what made me bring this up, is I read an article a day or two ago that likened Angry Birds to OG Mario. I mean, REALLY? Mario is an empire, an entire platform built around it. Fully engaging. And some media outlet (mainstream, i forget which) actually calls it the new mario of the 21st century or something of that nature. Jeessuuus.

I wouldn't compare Angry Birds to Mario. -.-

Majority of gamers are casual gamers, so things like Angry Birds appeal to them. I like games like Dead Space 2 but simple time wasters are fun once in a while.

I have the same feeling as you about Farmville. I tried it, it was boring as **** yet they say it's the best farming game ever.

Have they not heard about Harvest Moon? At least that is a game.

by data mining what do you mean? i know their advertisements are obtrusive as hell, and even more annoying that they don't offer a paid version to get rid of them

Meaning they grab as much info about you as they can (even your phone number) and send it back to the mothership. They then take that information and SELL it to advertising, telemarketing, and spam companies.
