No iphone 4 love here in roid world???

For everyone I hear talk about an iPhone 5, there are just as much speculation that it's not going to happen until next year. If it does happen, there's also speculation that it will be a staggered release between carriers. No one has facts on this. It's purely speculation.

Either way, it's an 8 month old phone. I don't care if they just got around to putting a CDMA radio in it, if I even wanted one, I'm not paying $299 and being locked up for another 20 months. The price point should be $99 and $199. I think that's even a stretch.

If they don't release an iphone 5 until next year, well that's pathetic because the FFC and high res display are no longer head of the pack. But let's be honest with ourselves. The iPhone 5 will be out in July with paltry upgrades like a faster processor, an extra 0.2" on the screen (but same res), and NFC integrated. And iPhone 4 owners will be crawling over each other to get it.

After 6 months with an ipod touch, I wanted an iphone. That was June 2009 and Android was mostly an afterthought with the G1 on T-Mobile. The landscape has changed. Drastically. The iphone is no longer king of the hill and just doesn't offer enough value for the consumer compared to other phones out there. Apple and I will forever be separated by the great divide between reality and their bloated pricing scheme.

Apple has released an update to the iPhone annually since the original was released. In my view, it would indicate trouble in Denmark (i.e. Cupertino) if they did NOT release an iPhone 4s or iPhone 5 or whatever model name in June/July.

The real question is whether that would be a simultaneous release of GSM and CDMA (or even both in one) models. Since they are now no longer exclusive to AT&T, it would probably take extra payments by AT&T (or perhaps lack of same from Verizon) for Apple to give AT&T a period of exclusivity on the new model.

But, only insiders know what is actually going on.

Your last sentenced shows me that you, in no way, can compare an iPhone and an Android device without being biased.

If there is an iPhone 5, so be it. The operating system will easily be upgradeable on the iPhone 4. Apple rarely upgrades their devices without tried and true performance (i.e. the first iPhone did not have 3g, even though it was available). They are not going to jump head first into 4g with both carriers. The more I read, it looks like at&t and verizon will come into alignment in 2012.

Yes, the OS might be upgradeable, but the hardware sure isn't.

I'm fine with what the iPhone 4 has to offer. I know several people with an iPhone 3gs who don't even care to upgrade to the iPhone 4 because they still love their device.

It doesn't matter what device you buy in this world (apple, android, winmo, bb, palm, etc..), you're never going to stay ahead of the game.

Objectionable and objective aren't the same thing. Generally you want to be objective, and not objectionable in a discussion or argument.

And I disagree with that anyway. Ignoring how overpriced and locked down apple is, is not being objective. Those are valid arguments, not preconceived notions clouding our judgement.

Wow, I just made the jump from AT&T (iPhone 3gs) to Verizon Droid X. I did enjoy using the iPhone but I had used earlier Android phones prior (HTC Hero on Sprint) and loved it until I moved to an area with crappy Sprint coverage and great AT&T coverage (Hard to believe, I know). My wife is staying with the iPhone but I needed to go back to Android and take advantage of all the freedoms and potentials of mobile technology. I'm sure there will be amazing iPhone sales in the land of big red but not all jumpers are going to find satisfaction with iOS being closed (Unless your talking jailbreak). I really can't wait to see what happens during the next 6 months. Remember competition brings out the best in everyone...
