Should I Switch to Optimus M?

hey All

Currently own a Huawei Ascend, but it was free due to being defected, and metro not wanting to give me a new one, so I put the purchase into dispute with capital one, and capital one refunded my money and I am still getting the $50 rebate, so the phone was free and Im getting 50 bux.....but anyways...that brings me to my point.....Optimus M is LG.....LG is good...LG is better.....the camera on the ascend BLOWS....but ive seen test videos of the Optimus M on youtube, and it BY FAR is WAYYY better.....screen is .3 inches smaller, but who cares....has a 3.5mm jack, not a 2.5...it can expand up to 32GB instead of 16GB....and it has 2.2. or 2.2.1, but I will be downgrading as soon as I get it.....IF...I get it....it won't really cost me anything

so my question is...since u all have it for a while now...is the switch worth it? will I be happier with the Optimus M? How do you all feel about the phone, and the camera? I like the black on the ascend, not too crazy about the color of the Optimus M....but as far as I can see....Optimus M is better.....any information and opinions will help me deeply...thanks

I dunno. I like the phone. There's already been development of custom recovery and custom roms on it, but I wanna kick myself in the ass because I'm limited on Metro with this phone. It's a 3G capable phone but Metro does not offer 3G service so you're stuck with shitty data speed if you're not close to a Wifi source.

Now Virgin steps in with the Optimus V which is rootable on 2.2.1 plus they're offering it at half the price of what I paid for the M at launch. On top of that you can get unlimited text, data and web for only $25 with Virgin but you only get 300 minutes per month. The lack of unlimited talk on Virgin is not an issue to me nor should it for anyone as you can simply install Google Voice along with an app called Sipdroid and make calls anywhere in the US for nothing over Wifi, even after your minutes have run out.

I actually don't pay for my phone every month, my grandma's husbands company does... so I would rather stick with Metro since its free to me every month...the 1x reallllly isn't THATTTT bad, I do not mind it..it still is fairly quick for the most part.

Would you be able to give me your opinion on the phone itself...

id hold on for a bit to see what the new 4g phone will be like its supposed to come out real soon now the optimus m is a nice phone but i would wait and see jsut to see what the new 4g phone will be like

Optimus is a nice phone. I have not seen people even complaining about it. I own one and my gf got one as well we are both happy with that. If you dont mind paying some extra bucks for a 4g phone I would wait for a 4g android phones. Other than that Optimus is a very good phone.

This phone seem to be the best option now so far for Android. The newer LTE samsung phones are NOT android, if thats what you are looking for.

i'd go with the m its a good phone plenty of apps and it looks like you live in south florida so if your anywhere near miami they have 3g coverage there just like up here in boston i get 3g all day but the 4g lte phone the are coming out with doesnt get apps and for the price it honestly sucks i know i work for metro as a second job i actually talk a lot of people out of the new samsung into getting the m i personally love it its very responsive the touch screen is smooth the videos and pictures are crystal clear all in all its a really good phone im glad i picked it up instead of the samsung

I live about 40 miles north of Miami... so I don't know if that will count because my Ascend is 1x..but I don't know if that is the coverage area...or the phone...but damn..if I can get 3G with the M....then HELL YEAHHHH!!!!

I am just waiting for my credit card payment to clear so I can order the M with a clean balance, I just hope I don't get screwed and the phone is out of stock online 2m when my payment clears, but as far as the site says now..it's still available .

The ascend is nice, but the camera blows..that is one of the main reasons I want the M....because the pics and video recordings are so much better looking, and it's a LG..nuff said

yea i'm not 100% on how far out of miami the 3g goes but i'll look it up for ya but even still its a sweet phone the camera quality is really clear i took a video of my daughter the first day i got it and it came out so good its like my wifes 14.2 megapixel digital camera/camcorder without the massive file size to save it haha but metros 4g coverage goes from southern miami all the way up to palm beach gardens so it says on the coverage map so im assuming anywhere in there should get you 3g

I'm in 33433, so that is pretty much in the middle

but sounds sweet, yeah man, I watched a youtube video...well.. a few...and the quality of LG's 3.2 compared to Huawei's 3.2...LG's runs circles around Huawei's camera

I am actually I think more excited to order the M than I was ordering the Ascend =D

But, my mind is made up... so as soon as my credit limit resets back to max...I am placing my order

yea its a good phone bro i like it i mean it has droid 2.2 software on it so its not the absolute latest version but still i dont care its my first android phone and i love the thing you'll be happy too once everything clears up with your credit stuff just one word of advice keep the screen protector on lol i got mine wicked dirty the first day im a mechanic and forgot i had oil reminese on my hands when i brought it back to work after buying it at the local metro store haha

Will do.. I usually keep them on until they get so non sticky to where it's annoying to leave it on.... now that I think of it...my ascend never even came with a screen paper thingy on it..I CANT WAIT TO GET MY M and join the M forums for good

yea indeed they do, but since the M is expandable to 32GB...I would want to get a bigger card even though 32's are expensive

Uhmmm... yes they are Android.

Samsung LTE Android SCH-R910, based on the Sprint Transform.

And the Samsung LTE Android SCH-R920 is coming after that.

Now, if you are talking about the Samsung Craft -- that is not a new phone. That's been out since October of last year. It's not a smartphone, it's just an LTE feature phone.

OK. Other than the Androids in the pipeline, Metro only has one LTE phone and it's the Samsung Crap -- I mean, Craft. It's a feature phone.

Here's another look at the SCH-R910, compared to other one I posted above. Notice the later build number at bottom of screen. And now it's going to have Android 2.2.1.

Personally, I'm going to keep my Optimus M and wait for the dual core LG LTE Android that will hit before the end of the year.
