Root Looking for a new Battery Indicator

Currently, I am rooted running the Quantum v2.7 Rom. I hate the battery indicator that came with it. I was looking around and came across this one:

SUPERNOVA ROM

Will it work with my Rom? Do I just download the zip and install using CWM3?

Kelmar, i've had developers bring up ADP, but i've managed to come this far without really knowing what it is! i've googled and looked around but still don't know exactly know how to 'push' using ADB..... if you are so inclined, could you describe? or pehaps post a link to a straightforward description/instructions?

I tried installing the zip from the SD card through recovery and booted up and it didn't change.

I have never used ADB tbh. I am not afraid to try anything if the instructions are good enough.

1) Download THIS file
2) Put file in your c:\android-sdk-windows\tools\ folder
3) MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP!!!
4) Reboot phone and boot into recovery
5) Open CMD on your computer and type

• cd c:\android-sdk-windows\tools\
• adb devices
• adb shell
• mount /system
• cd /system/bin
• cat sh > su
• exit
• adb push framework-res.apk /system/framework
• exit

6) Reboot phone

arright, thanks! just to get things straight, this is the method for pushing stuff to your phone via ADB? is this the general method, good for any rom, assuming you have downloaded the right file that you are gonna push? i'm trying to learn the method, but not wanting to specifically load this battery indicator.... and i'm not running Quantum.

also, after each line you have typed in the CMD window, you have hit 'enter', correct?

Is nandroid on the market?

if you're referring to making a nandroid backup, you just boot into Clockwork and choose 'backup and restore', then choose backup...... when it finishes you will have a complete backup of you current setup, and can go right back to it if something goes wrong later.

after the backup is done, you can stay in recovery and flash the file Kelmar posted(where he said 'flash THIS'), and if i'm not mistaken, you should have the battery indicator you wanted.

More or less ADB is the same... Just depends on what you want to do. Basically if you need to push a file, the concept is the same but you just adjust the file name and location where you want the file to end up.

Did you chose install zip from SD card? Try downloading and flashing again?

I don't quite understand #2 in your ADB instructions. I don't have a folder named "\android-sdk-windows\tools\" on my C drive on my computer.

eeeep, i downloaded that a couple days ago, no clue what to do with it yet.... any guidance will be much appreciated. i'm sure it will be a gradual learning experience of reading, experimenting, etc.

I tried redownloading it and reflashing it, still no luck. What's up with android sdk?

Android SDK

Basically it's what allows you to "develop" on your phone and will allow you to push/pull sytem files SAFELY with your phone when in it is in recovery.

Install that (and whatever it tells you that you need to install) then try following the steps listed.


Not sure why the zip isn't working... I'll see what I can find out. Confirmed it doesn't work though.

i think i got it at least partly set up. i found a little guide(which i can't find at the moment) on droidforums, and i followed a youtube video and got set up to write Java programs, but that's it so far. i don't think it really is all set up tho, i'm kinda confused as to what's what. what would be the first thing you recommend after downloading? i do know that the jdk is installed on my computer.

yeah, actually i just now found the sdk in my downloads folder, unzipped it, and started the sdk manager.... i think it's downloading some updates now. but i did also see that black command window open up, so i think that's good. but anyway, thanks, i gotta step out for now, but will be back later... thx for everything.

ah yes, and i see the addons in the sdk folder, but it's empty. i also see 'tools', 'platform tools', the 'sdk manager', etc.
