What is this file that is/was on my SD card?

I assume it's do to with either the stock News app, or the stock News and Weather app. It seemed to contain a lot of thumbnails and I was able to delete it without issue.

Out of curiosity, I accessed the above apps and the folder didn't reappear on my SD card.

Also, my mind has gone completely blank. Could somebody refresh my memory as to why some files have "." in front of the name, and others do not.

Cheers.

Well, on my phone it contains the thumbnails for the stock HTC news app. It's interesting to know why deleting it does nothing though. Maybe it only creates it when syncing if it doesn't exist. Do you have auto-sync turned off for news?

And '.' denotes 'Hidden' in a Linux filesystem.

You sir, are a genius.

It has just returned, after I went to Settings > Accounts and Sync and opted to Sync all. The only reason I hadn't tried that previously is because I'd refreshed etc in the app itself and it didn't bring the folder back. Interesting stuff all the same. That's the beauty of Android, there's always a little bit extra you can learn or remind yourself of.

Thanks for the reminder re: the ".".
