Help Phone connects to Wifi and Network, but not to internet?

Hi guys. Well I haven't had any issues with my phone lately, but two days ago I was at work and I noticed I couldn't connect to the internet, marketplace or anything.

What was more strange was that I had a good wifi connection. I went home and still no luck.

It doesn't matter if I have wifi or 1X (I have metro, yeah I know).

Every time I try to connect to internet with opera mini, I get the message:

"Unable to connect. Please review your network settings"

when I try to connect to the market I get the following message:

"A network error has occurred. Retry, or cancel and return to the previous screen. "



I have gone to my wireless & network settings, and I could see that the wifi is detected and connected, no it is not in airplane mode.


My phone is rooted

I tried re-rooting the phone and nothing happened.
I tried taking the battery and replacing and nothing happened.
I tried clearing the cache (with Cache mate) and nothing happened.
I replaced easy wifi application (with TiBU) and nothing happend.
I restored all apps and data with (TiBU) and nothing happened.

I am thinking of doing a hard reset now. does any one know how to fix?

Are you using a task killer,battery saver,or a CPU overclock app?

Advanced Task Killer
SetCPU
Lookout
and "AppLock" running at all times.

I would make sure your CPU low settings aren't extremely low,turn off the task killer,reboot,& then also check to see if the stock browser will work.(Make sure TK stays disabled after re-boot,for troubleshooting purposes).
I'm currently using Lookout myself on Joser116's suggestion(THX) , & have no performance issues with it.

I would recommend ditching the task killer man....android operating systems are designed to close processes when the phone doesn't need them, and turn them on when they do need them....by task killing...you actually are slowing down the phone in the long run.. I ditched it myself , after hearing the bad things about task killing... You will most likely actually experience a speed increase after uninstalling your task killer... if you are concerned about your battery.. I would try Juice Defender

Sorry guys. I apologize for keeping you in suspense for a long time.

I have not seen this to be true in real life application. Why does Alarm Clock start running when I never so much as looked at its icon? Why is my keyboard on when I haven't touched the phone all night? If I leave these tasks running, how come when I check later, they're still running when the phone has been idle? Etc, etc.

As far as your internet connection issues, I'm not sure what to tell you on that. If it were a PC, I could troubleshoot to the nth degree, but you can't easily access the same types of menus/settings on a phone. The only thing I can think of off the top of my head is, if there is a proxy setting somewhere for internet communication in general, that setting could have gotten boogered up. How or where to find/fix it, I don't know, sorry.
