Root Downgrading PS3 with Evo 4G

So I bought a PS3 Slim 160GB last night and I accidentally updated to 3.56

Now I want to jailbreak it and I heard that you can do it with a variety of things such as the iPod Touch, iPhone, or certain Android phones and mine is supported.

They say you have to flash the rom to the device and then do some stuff on your PS3 to get it going. I'm curious as to how to flash a rom to the device first. My phone is already rooted, I used unrEVOked to root it in December. Now all I need help with is flashing.

Anyone tried this on their PS3 using their phone too?

EDIT: When I say "Jailbreak" in the second paragraph, I mean downgrade.

You cant downgrade from 3.56 firmware atm. (and prolly won't ever be able too)

I have not looked into this recently. I read last week that there was new information on hacking the ps3 but like I said....haven't read any of it other than sony is doing their best to shut down any source of real discussion about it. I think google is going to be your best bet on this one but I will watch for someone to post as I am always interested in unlocking more potential from my electronics.

I give sony credit...every time someone hacks it they block said hack pretty quick

lol seems to be true. Did the same to my PSP Go once I first got it because I know their history.

I checked all over Google and every search result possible, and I'm glad we think alike because that's how I am. I kinda love the thrill of the hacking more than what the hacking brings hahaha there's always so much cool stuff to do with it! But yeah...I've been searching and searching and I kept wondering why you can't just copy the files for downgrading onto a regular USB stick or USB hard drive, and then someone explained it and how it has to be...yeah yea you get the point lol so I got curious and decided to come here for some help since I can use my phone. Thanks for the answer. If you find anything, please let me know.

@Nettwerk: Never say never especially with hacking video game systems. People said the same thing about a few versions of the PSP and what do you know, people can hack those now. But I see what you're saying as I have seen what Sony added that makes this one, the big one. I heard that in this update, they can monitor everything your hard drive has on it and shut it down and have heard a few people say don't jailbreak it. Well...I'm hoping I can eventually. Thanks for the answer.

You mean to say that if i had a PS3 and i had stuff on it, sony can see what it is, and then shut down an electronic of mine in my old household that i purchased??

According to what hackers who took apart the recent update and owners of PS3es who recently hacked their systems, they are saying that this is true. That the update enabled Sony to have access to ALL parts of your system, scan it and send it back to headquarters then if anything suspicious was found, brick the system so it cannot be used and ban the person from ever getting on PSN with that user name. It seems like something they can do as Microsoft has done it with their Xboxes in the past where people hacked them and Microsoft sent a bug out that bricked these peoples' consoles.

Im not strongly on one side or another saying how dare they, because its not like you are hiding plans to bomb something. Any other personal info id imagine is pretty safe with sony.
But still, thats like, i bought that, and figure its mine to do what i want with (like rooting my evo), and id feel a little 'raped' knowing theyre still in control of it.
What if i was going 85 mph in a 75? Is Volkswagen going to slow me down and give me a little shock in my seat? Haha

^the bricking xboxes story is not entirely true. The action of sending malicious "bugs" would be just as illegal as people. Doing what SOME people do after hacking. Microsoft does ban jailbroken units from the online environment. The actual issue ...much like on the older psp, is a conflict between revision software and hack material. Proving that the end result of bricking a said device was the goal of the manufacturer would be nearly impossible

Nintendo does the same thing with modified Wii's. At this point, most of the consoles are fairly stable, so what do you think updates are for now? Yup, to block whatever the hackers have figured out. All the consoles have their own "network" for playing games online, so if you want to be able to do that (most people do) then they make you update to their latest firmware (which blocks, disables, or even bricks consoles with known hacks). I don't think any of the console manufacturers send out "bullets" that will brick hacked consoles, but I know that they definitely design their firmware updates to brick any consoles that have been hacked, and they get away with that by making you check a box that you accept this update. Elect not to update? That's fine, but you don't get to play any games online through their proprietary networks. Nintendo's updates even warn you that if you have modified the console in any way, you should not install this update because it could render your Wii inoperable. Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft will repair your bricked console with full clemency and no questions asked -- if you pay for it. Apparently, the fix for this "bricking" is simple and quick, so you're paying them a lot of money to do a few minutes' work.

sony can not see whats on your hard drive thats just bs plus all you would have to do to stop them is not connect to the internet the only way they can ban your ps3 is if your online while jailbroken and if you do that weel then you deserve to get banned and you cant be mad you take the risk of jailbreaking/rooting you should understand the downsides to it.

Sort of but you cannot run home brew using it because sony changed the master keys to randomize each time.

no once it has been done there is nothing they can do besides for a hardware fix the signing keys HAVE been released already for 3.56.

I've looked around lately after seeing this Thread.. I head about it, but haven't seen much activity out there about it.

We have the Wii controller working for Game Emulators.. Has there been any luck linking the PS3 controller with Bluetooth to work with the Game Emulators?

I have both the 360 and PS3 and I'm almost positive that I've used both on my computer to play regular games, so I guess it could be compatible. Through Bluetooth, I have no idea. I have seen that Wii controller working for games like you're talking about.


Anyway on this thread, I'm kinda done. Doesn't seem like I'm going to get anything done and doesn't seem worth it. I thought there was more you could do with it hacked too, but I guess not. Getting a little off topic as this is the Android forum lol Anyway, thanks for the answers.

Same here, I feel the same way, I bought it, I should be able to do what I want with it. But...I found out that with this jailbreaking of the PS3, you can playback games that you did not purchase, and of course Sony and other game companies would be against this.

For modding our Android phones or a car, it's different because we're not really doing it to "steal" anything, just to achieve something different. But...our phone producers do not approve of us rooting our phones nor do most of our carriers. With me and my Evo, Sprint, if they find out, will terminate my warranty with them. As for cars, I have heard of a few stories where people got car trouble and claimed that the car company would not cover the vehicle with its warranty because of them changing their wheels or something, so it does happen. These companies get big and get full of themselves, not saying that they all do it or will but it does happen.
