Although a thread already exists. I think this fantastic NEW news warrants a shiny new one. :)

This thread is not a root support thread!

Root your LG Optimus 2X using z4root.

I still think this needs stronger confirmation and more extensive testing before I'm totally confident - it really does seem too good to be true - I'm also waiting for someone to intall a custom recovery - then we would be totally sorted!

Yep I agree. Almost too good to be true.:( If true it's encouraging that it doesn't look like any major tinkering was needed. Looks like LG have been true to type not getting pissy over locking things down. Lets hope this spurs on the dev community. Time will tell.:)

My concern is that just as the dev community get going, they will be swayed by the newer wave of devices from HTC etc that will begin to emerge from May onwards leaving us left behind:mad:

Like the HTC Desire 2 that's just been rumoured, really looking forward to see what that one has in store for now, but I'm sure some developers will be enticed by the early promising results of this, i for one am really glad that z4root is showing promising results :)

The dev community could be locked in too, just the same as us. The US release date could be important.

How will you wait?

If I used the "something betters coming out" argument for all my IT purchases I'd still have my C64 LOL.

The mobile world congress this year is going to be very interesting. Maybe even pivotal in our decision making.

I keep drifting off topic.:(
