Root CyanogenMod 6.1/Android 2.2 Is here for GT540!

When i put in the command fastboot.exe -w, I get this message <Waiting for device>... and it seems to be stuck there. There must be a way to get my drivers installed again because other people are getting it to work.

EDIT: Also, Vista doesn't recognize it as an LG device anymore(if in fastboot), it's searching for 'Android' drivers.

Yeah, when your in fastboot mode, it'll search for android drivers instead of LG drivers, did it install the Android drivers?

No, that's the problem. The driver cannot be found, therefore my computer does not recognize my device when I type fastboot.exe -w in cmd.

Try this:
1. Make sure the phone is not plugged in
2. Re-install the drivers from the KDZ updater .zip file (LGAndroidDriver_WHQL_ML_Ver_1.0_All_Win7.exe)
3. Put the phone in fastboot mode and see if the drivers install

If that doesn't work then download and install this program, then open it and click 'Install USB Drivers' on the right, then scroll down to 'GT540' (not GT540GO) and double click it. It should then install the drivers.

Good luck! :D

none of that worked... also, i dunno if this helps, but once im in fastboot mode, my phone is frozen... the only way to unfreeze it is to remove the battery and restart... is that how it should be?

EDIT: Nevermind, i appreciate your time helping me. i'm really frustrated at this point, so i'm reverting back to LG's 2.1... i'll just wait til CM is fully functional.

Hmm, got another PC you can try? Also, the phone isn't frozen, that's just how fastboot mode is.

Hi,

I have exactly the same problem and I can't figure it out to instal the CyanogenMod. My computer (Vista OS computer) doesn't recognise my phone when its on fastboot mode.

I have tried using my wife computer (window XP) to instal the CyanogenMod but still has no luck either.

If you go into device manager, do you see the phone there?

I am thinking of flashing my 2.1 to 2.1+fastboot and later to CyanogenMod. But first I need to know something. GT540 runs only with touchscreen and someone said that there is no option to calibrate the touch screen with Cyanogen. Tell me, how accurate will be my screen without calibration?

One more thing. If my phone gets "bricked", can it be repaired at home or I have to send it to LG repair center?

You can't calibrate the screen no, but I guess my screen is calibrated the same way as it was back on 2.1. My mum also has a GT540 and her touch screen is calibrated different to mine (mine is calibrated slightly lower) and they've both been upgraded and the screen is pretty much the same as before

Depends on how bad you brick your phone, I bricked my phone when upgrading to the 2.1+fastboot when in the middle of the process, my laptop BlueScreened, I restarted the phone and it just showed the LG logo.. I can't remember what I did, but I just played with the settings in the KDZ updater and played with plugging the cable in and it worked. But if you can install recovery via fastboot and make a backup before you flash CyanogenMod then if anything goes wrong during flashing CyanogenMod, and the phone switches on, then you can go into recovery and restore the 2.1 and try again. But there isn't that big of a chance of bricking the phone as long as you do everything correctly and dont use the computer whilst the phone is updating. If the PC has BlueScreens often or isn't the best at performance, then try using a better PC, if available. But everything should go swiftly if you follow the instructions precisely :)

Okay, Thank you. Will try this tomorrow. I gues i'll calibrate the screen before the update then. Important thing is that the phone can be unbricked if something goes wrong.

Can't wait. I really need that App to SD

Cool, even though there's not that big a chance of bricking anyway :)

Go for it now, if you really want it! Its only about a 15-20 minute process! :D
