Root De-branding Help - ERROR[131]: CUSTOMER ID ERROR

I was trying to de-brand my Orange DHD a couple of weeks back and have got a little stuck. I believe I have followed all the guides I could find but its just not working.

I have created the gold card (I assume its worked as I wouldn't know how to test it). I am at the step where you replace the rom files between the software loaders. All the files are extracted but when it comes to install them on the phone I get the message.

ERROR[131]: CUSTOMER ID ERROR

1. Does anyone know why this is? Do I need to root my phone when loading the software through this method?
2. If I add data to the gold card will it still work?
3. If I cant get this working, does anyone know a location for a decent de-branding guide for the DHD (I wish it was as easy as symbian).

Thanks,
Jon

Looks like your goldcard didnt work. This is the only real way to test if it works.
Thanks :) I can confirm you are correct. I was fiddling around last night and learning. It appears when creating a gold card the guides tell you to use the following line to get the memory serial number thingy.

adb shell cat /sys/class/mmc_host/mmc1/mmc1:*/cid

Then when this doesnt work use

adb shell cat /sys/class/mmc_host/mmc0/mmc0:*/cid

I have a feeling this is the inbuilt memory and you should use

adb shell cat /sys/class/mmc_host/mmc2/mmc2:*/cid

When I used this the gold card worked.

I did however have to use the downgrade method to reload the software because the Orange build version was "1.40.61.2".
