So the new phone from HTC i believe is called the Thunderbolt which is suppose to be VZW's first 4g phone nd now they got the iPhone 4 coming out..which one would you get? And which do you think will be better?
iPhone 4 is not 4g correct?
Correct. The "G" in Iphone refers to the 4th generation of the Iphone. The "G" when talking about cell technology refers to the 4th generation of cellular wireless standards. Current Iphone 4G is on 3G network. The next generation of Iphone--5G--might very well be on the 4G network.
The iPhone 4 is not the "iPhone 4G"
The iPhone 5 will not be the "iPhone 5G"
Just clarifying because it's a pretty widespread misconception.
I think I will wait the extra month or so for the Bionic. The dual core processor will keep it cutting edge a bit longer and I like Moto's quality better than HTC (I am confident our awesome dev's will get around bootloaders, etc).
All of that said, I would NOT enter a 2 year contract on a 3g phone right now so the iPhone is out. If I wanted to wait till summer for the iPhone5 it may be competitive. Agreed that it is too locked down though and I prefer the ability to customize in Android. If simplicity and elegance are what you want the iPhone is a good phone, just not cutting edge anymore.
It's not going to be until late 2013 when Verizon has 4G coverage everywhere they have 3G coverage now.
To me, the Thunderbolt seems like a quickly thrown together evo for verizon. Although, I'm able to get 4g here, I'd like to wait for something worth the upgrade. To me, the Thunderbolt isn't enough of one over the DX. The iPhone is a lateral move. Nice screen, smooth OS, but nothing really earth shattering over the DX. (I saw the iPhone in the Apple store in NYC, last weekend.. eh.. it's good. It's okay, but not enough to make me make a move.)
.
The map tells me I have 4g in my area. I'm right between NYC and Philly. Also, besides the upgraded ram, you have the same processor. It's just not enough of a jump to make me jump.
(see what I did there?)
I've gotta go with Steven on this (and as I've stated in another thread), the Thunderbolt looks like the Evo and Nexus 1 got together and had a child. OTHER than the 4G aspect (which I would only have half the time anyway) there is no quantum leap in technology over what is out now.
that is what I thought at first..
but it has the newer scorpion cpu.. so the better gpu too.
this will give it more performance and battery life... over the evo.
and the kickstand lets it stand both landscape and portrait
