I find it amazing that folks look at me stupid when I tell them I build and fix computer systems. They seem to think it's only young folks who can do that. Seems to me we live in a society where ageism is rife lol.

The thing is, there is a larger percentage of older people who have not had the same level of exposure to these systems as the youth of today.
The youth however, do not seem to understand that although these things have only recently (last decade or so) become affordable in the public domain, that the industry has been prevalent for much longer.
My 67 year old father used to work in IT too.
Where as there is a common misconception that people over a certain age know nothing of computers, we must be careful ourselves never to attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity
