hey guys,
I was hoping if anyone can help me out and give me step by step instructions on how to install a custom rom on my phone. I already rooted it and I've been curious for a while on how to install these roms but I can never seem to understand how to exactly. I keep reading about using odin but I have no clue what that is. Any instruction or link would be great.

I am curious how you rooted without Odin....unless you did that one click type thing..I am not very familiar with it.

As long as you have clockwork installed, then you download the ROM you want. Also make sure you have a radio and kernel for that build of ROM Di01/Dj05/Dl09. The ROM and the Kernel get placed on the root of your SDCard.

The boot into recovery by holding the entire vol button (up and down) and the Power button. (once the Samsung words appear you can let go of the power button)

Once the blue recovery menu appears let go of the vol button and use the vol down to scroll to apply update.zip then hit the home softkey. this will open your clockwork recovery (red or green)

Then use the vol down to scroll to wipe data and press the back soft key to select it.

Then wipe the cache partition.

Then go to install zip from sdcard

Select the ROM you want to install, and hit the back button to select it.

After it installs hit the search soft key to go back and install the Kernel from the SDcard.

reboot phone from the recovery menu by selecting reboot system (not reboot recovery)

Now if you have a Radio matched with your ROM you are good to go. If not then you need to flash the modem. Start Odin on your computer and go into download mode on your phone (pull battery, hold down the vol down button while plugging the USB into your phone)

then in Odin use the PDA (ONLY PDA) and select the .tar file you want of the new radio and click start..one the Odin says passed you can put your battery back in and restart you phone...

You now have a custom ROM/Kernel/Radio

I am sorry I dont have all the links to the files handy right now.

I'm having trouble getting the green recovery screen where it'll allow me to wipe the battery stats in clock work. Whenever I try to go to recovery I get the blue one? What can I do to go back to the green recovery screen?

did you choose apply update.zip? That should take you to green. (actually if you flashed the recovery I linked before, it will be red I think.)

I think I bricked my phone! I tried using clockwork again to get to the green recovery screen but all that comes up is the blue one. I try to go to apply sdcard.update.zip and I get a couple of errors.

E: can't mount /dev/block/vold/179:9
(no such file or directory)
E: Can't mount SDCARD:update.zip
Installation aborted.

I try to wipe the cache and do a factory reset but whenever I reboot the phone, it just goes back into the blue recovery screen. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Worst case push the di01 all in one coding and your back to stock....then relish radio and recovery and restore a backup
