So, for those who lurk on these forums to read about and form an opinion on this phone, let's make a list of why we are picking this phone over others. I'll start:

-build quality (hugely important to me)
-Sense 2.0
-4.3" screen

-lastly, just a huge upgrade from my iPhone 3G! Happy early birthday to me:)

I watched the history of pixar on biography last week. You would not BELIEVE the ups and downs they went through just getting Toy Story out..much less the first 3 or 4 (each a bigger hit than the last) when almost no one else in the industry even had a CLUE how they were even doing those movies..and thats not even counting the fact that the stories were WRITTEN By a bunch of physists, computer programmers, animators etc..all who basically INVENTED the 3D movie making technology...with Steve Jobs as the lead investor and leading mgt voice..

Absolutely amazing it was.

I gotta go off just for ONE second... this is NOT directed to ANY individuals here... because as with any stereotype, there are exceptions...

Main reason I hate Apple...

because the people that own their products have taken on a stigma that they are better than other people. Because they can afford their overpriced hardware. They walk around with a swagger as if to say... "Oh... PC? Well, I'm better than you. I use a Mac." Or... "Oh, Palm Pre? Hmph. iPhone here, whose better now?" Or, the people that take their freaking iPads EVERYWHERE as if to say, "Look at me! I own an iPad! I can afford overpriced hardware! Woo hoo!"

I own an iPhone because it was simply the best phone available on my network at the time. I would have an EVO or an Epic on Sprint. I would be getting the Thunderbolt or would have the Droid X on Verizon.

I have nothing against Steve Jobs. The man is a visionary because he takes simple things and makes them extraordinary.

People see my iPhone and I'm automatically lumped into the lot of Apple Fan Boys because "ZOMG! HE HAS AN IPHONE!!!!"

I can't wait to get rid of this thing.

I'm about to get my first smartphone, and it is going to be the Inspire because of your posts.

I was going to upgrade my old Razr (it still says Cingular) last fall, and am locked into ATT because my whole family is on ATT with iPhones, but I never liked them. I was going to get a Captivate, but hands free voice dialing over bluetooth is a big deal for me (safe driving, no tickets and all that). I almost bit a couple of times based on the promise that Froyo was coming "next month." After following the threads in the Captivate forum, I realized that promise was like the sign in the bar that says "Free Beer Tomorrow!"

So I waited until now, and I am going to wait a few more days, because I want to go into the ATT store and kick the tires on the Inspire and make them show me that it works. I couldn't bear it if it doesn't do something critical to me that my wife's iPhone does well.

I also figure that one of you will have tested it out by Monday when the ATT store here opens, so thanks in advance :)

Agreed 100%.

I tried to warn my brother that he was limiting himself to about 1/4th of the available software buy buying an apple, was paying more and getthing the same hardware.

He INSISTED apple was better.

Few months later he approached me with a whisper "you were right" and couldnt look me in the eye......

What can i say...i tried to warn him.

99 % wont the ones who do are just doing it.to do.it

Oh come on...you mean the "what about when im on vacation, don't have wi-fi and NEED TO upload 10-15 8mp sized pictures to face book" argument isn't a deal breaker?

LOL kidding. Mostly.

Everyones opinion is valid...its just a question of how much that opinion represents what i call "every day Joe smart phone user" that people seem to really get confused over (i guess).

As i said..coming from my older 3gs..i will be blown away (and wont know what im missing) if there are network issues.

Back on topic i would just like to second what most have already said about this particular phone seemingly very polished, well thought out and functional for the AVERAGE person using it. Those are points that really COUNT in my book...

But you have to admit... none of us on this forum are the average user, otherwise we would all be sleeping normally at night not caring about the glowing 4.3" metal encased beauty we'll be holding on Sunday.

To be honest...one of the reason why i lower things down to such a low common denominator is that i DO consider myself to be "joe average phone user"

Things like reliability, easy to use interface, battery use with LIGHT TO AVERAGE use, etc ARE IMPORTANT TO ME.

This is why i get into debates when people go off on tangents that its not the FASTEST THEORETICAL bandwith or it wont perform as good as a dual core in some future game or OS thats not released yet...those are all extreme views and extreme arguments...even for a 'phone enthusiast" like me.

I mean..COME ON.. I am here because i travel all the time and am married to my phone...and am very much looking forward to upgrading but if your concerns about this phone are THAT FAR OUT THERE...go build one your self or find one that costs $2,000 thats a quad core and that runs on a network thats too expensive for the rest of us.... (what i am trying to say is...BE REALISTIC please).

Like Han solo said "She may not look fast but shes got it where it counts"

My only problem giving up iphone is netflix and hulu. I watch these a lot due to my weird hours at work and frankly i like those services ( not here to debate them ). Im going to have both, after the 450 purchase, my bill will just be 30 a month extra cause of discounts and such. My iphone was free ( won a raffle).

Now as soon as android has a full blown service with these guys then my iphone will be retired. They need to run where i dont need to unlock root or what ever you guys do to them. I have no interest. I love the native speech to text and watching movies on that lovely screen.

Look forward to this phone. )
