I hope this isn't a ridiculous question but I was wondering if winmo 6.5 could run on the galaxy? i would guess that there is better video, bluetooth and flash support for windows mobile than there is is android 1.5 and would be a bit snappier since it runs on phones with lower specs than this

I think it could run, with some work. Galaxy shares a lot of hardware with
Samsung's WinMo phones, so Samsung probably has Windows versions of
all the drivers.

Whether installation could be done without Samsung, by "cooking" a WM
firmware for Galaxy patched from ROMs of other phones, I don't know.

I suspect even if someone did manage it Microsoft legal department would bury them in litigation.

Only reason I can think of they haven't been overly bothered about going after the people who cook WM roms is that you need a win-mobile powered phone to use the Cooked ROM and therefore part of the cost of the device would be licencing fees to use win mobile. Wouldn't suprise me if it actually increases the sales of certian devices.

However if you start hacking and putting it on other phones they wouldn't get any money from that so probably would take action.
