Root stock Rom vs Custom

Hi all,

Been playing with the evo some, and i cant decided if i want to use the stock 2.2 rom vs a custom. I like the 2.2 stock, just would like to be able to save battery and overlock, and wi-fi tethering

anyone know of a good custom rom, thats as good as stock? I mean everything works, but with out the bloatware, and has the ability to over/undercloack, battery saver built in?

Or should i just use the apps for this stuff on the stock rom?

iv been eyeballing the Evio 2 series roms anyone have any luck with this rom? I know the 8mp camra and 4 g doesnt work.

Mikfroyo 4.4(haven't tried 4.5 yet) and Fresh 3.5.0.1 are both very stable roms and have the bloat already removed but stored on the sd card so you can install if you want to. As far as overclocking you will need to flash a new kernel for that. Netarchy kernels are very good. You will also need something like SetCPU or an overclock widget to be able to set for over/underclocking. Read the Rooting for Dummies thread for after rooting. It has a lot of info on what you are looking for as well as a link to the list of Roms on XDA.

This is all going to depend on your preference and what you want. There are plenty of ROM's that maintain that *stock* feel, with plenty of tweaks and goodies under the hood (Sprint Lover's, Mikfroyo 4.2, Burnt Droid, Stock Turbo, just to name a few). You can just leave your phone stock but rooted, flash a custom kernel (I recommend the kernel in my sig., Netarchy) so you can over/underclock, and manually freeze/remove bloatware, using titanium backup. Just be sure that if you decide to go that route, all the bloatware you're removing or freezing is on the "Freezing Bloatware" list in ROOTING For Dummies + Extra's.

I like mikfroyo 4.5 . It is super fast and smooth. I believe out is a tad faster then 4.4 by just a hair. It had everything you need in a custom rom. No bloat ware but has the sprint hotspot unlocked.and just worth the stock kernel, it has great battery life. My suggestion is to try a bunch of different roms and see which one you like.

My first rom was myn 2.2 rls5 which I liked as well.
