Would you pay it?

What are the alternatives? I'm not a huge Pandora fan - ads and limited skipping. Spotify sounds interesting but sleezy, and I just heard about something called Grooveshark I'm looking into. But I'll have to say, I loved Last.fm as long as I had strong 3G. It usually played songs I liked, and I was amassing quite a library and discovering music regularly.

So what do you people think?

Also, interesting article on how much artists make:
How Much Do Music Artists Earn Online?

I never got into these types of services -- Pandora or Last.FM. I listen and discover so much music through other means. Whenever I do try a service like Pandora, it rarely offers me anything new to discover. Any new artists I find on my own are usually not available to explore through Pandora as well. I figure I just listen to too much music in the first place.

But seriously, if finding new music is what you are trying to get out of these services.....there are better ways. You just have to do a little more work.

Examples are:
Blogs, Movie Soundtracks (actively listen during a movie), Live shows, Self Discovery.

Music Blogs are large part of it. Authors of many blogs regularly post music to download/listen based around a certain idea/theme or genre. These guys are the music nerds. Chances are there are a bunch of blogs somewhere on the net for the music you like....

On many occasions I find new music by thinking of two unrelated genre's of music I like.....I google the genre combo and end up finding a whole bunch of great stuff. For instance Electro-Swing. I may even find a whole blog where the author regularly posts new similar music.

No doubt! I find a lot on my own as well. Music blogs are amazing! What genres of music do you listen to? Also, do you go to rateyourmusic.com?

Damn, we have pretty similar tastes, although as usual, I haven't heard about....maybe 1/2 of those artists!

SHPONGLE IS AMAZING! Do you know the Divine Moments of Truth? ;)

Shpongle is the shit man. One of my all time favorites. Been listening to that stuff for a long time now. Yes, I know The Divine Moments of Truth. Shpongle is going to be at Coachella this year (DJ set).

You probably did not know they recently did a track called "The God Particle". It was inspired by the large hadron collider. The climax on the song is real beautiful.

If you have not heard of a bunch of those artists...you got some listening to do. I can't recommend anything like Shpongle.....cause that is especially unique music. I dunno though....listen to the "Late Night Cinema" album by Blue Sky Black Death [check your pm's].

With a double dose of XTC I might be convinced that is music.

DMT is Shpongle's drug of choice LOL. I love Shpongle with/without supplements.

Here is Shpongle's mantra....

"A multi-verse not very far away where queues and noise don't exist neither pain nor fear, scary faces or bad smells...just peace and pieces, and perfect weather :) Sucking the big toe of humanity, your armchair turns into an aural spacecraft, catapulting you through the veils of reality and consciousness into a psychedelic adult theme park: Sonar Ballistickle, Soma sucking cyber sorcerers floating weightlessly on the threshold of bliss, creating psycho-geometric, atomic telepathic shimmering incandescent dream dilations. This hybrid exotic seretonin drenched electro-plasmic dripping brain forest moves with endless hallucinogenic changing patterns while, unnoticed a million angels dance on a pinhead. Fun-Shui, Phrenological escapology; the divine moment of truth...the inevitability of the ...unexpected - the vortex of the cortex. Knowing what we don't know, while sampling the cosmos; from the darkness to the light; from the unreal to the real....from death to immortality..."
