Hi i really need some help. I downloaded z4root and i temporary rooted and i went down the list and deleted somethings i thought i didnt need. Well apparently i deleted something that wont let me connect to facebook or the android market. It wont like recieve data. I can still search things on google but if i try to go to a website like 4shared.com and try to download an app it wont download it will just sit there and try to connect. I tried restoring my phone to factory data reset but when it started up again i noticed all the apps that i deleted still are deleted. I need to somehow see what i deleted by accident and get it back so i can use facebook and market and download things again. Maybe is there a way to see the list of all the system apps and apk files i need like google frame work and stuff ( i still have that thats just and example of what kind of things im looking for) The worst part about it is i wiped out everything from my phone and also when i try to redownload stuff from my pc when i connect my usb cable nothing happens it just charges like the droid guy doesnt come up and ask if i wanna go to usb mode so i cant even get things on my phone that way! Please help me im such an idiot please please please!!!

Would you go down through the Windows subfolder on your computer's hard drive, just deleting stuff you don't think you need?

Then why do that with the Linux computer in your hand?

Why not look on this forum FIRST and see what is safe to delete? My goodness. Look at this thread:

For instance, you can NOT NOT NOT delete the Android browser (which re-named as the MetroWEB browser on this phone) and have Market work and other things. You can have as many other browsers on the phone as you wish (I have four, total) and make one of them the "default", but browser.apk has to stay.

You can't delete "Talk" and have Market work.

You can't delete... well just go look at that thread.

And as you discovered, factory reset does not RESTORE deleted apps. You have to go back to factory-state recovery. Go look at this thread:

this is what will fix it:

(Andyo70 moved the files to that thread and made a video tutorial.)

Just an fyi I been trying to post around the forum. Talk.apk is actually not needed for anything on this phone to work correctly. I have 2.2 and have successfully removed it as have numerous other like Ed.

It's probably browser.apk that you took out since I had the same symptoms after doing so myself. Chazz is right, check around and see what you can get rid of. I payed the price and now you will have to use Andy's method too.

Go there and follow that.
Assuming you had it rooted successfully to begin with I'm assuming also you had 2.2 stock and not 2.2.1 so you wont have to worry about being one of those black screeners. Btw, you cant just put browser.apk back into that directory for it to be shown on the apps droor, you actually need to do the recovery. I have heard that you can make the market work again by just putting it back but have not tried myself, I know however that just putting it back doesnt make it usable at all since it won't show up.

Good luck.

There are conflicting reports on this. Better safe than sorry.

Safe Apps to Remove - SDX-Developers Wiki

Talk.apk - Google Talk App: Has caused a few to not be able to download from the market on the new 2.1 if removed.

Yeah, they said 2.1 and we use 2.2. Still, I've seen too many people have problems and it can't all be browser.apk related. ;)
