BBC i Player arriving Tomorrow or Friday

Disappointing app. Nicer UI and I prefer having an app than a web app for sure, but it offers no extra functionality. Quality of video is still relatively poor compared to on ios, and still no download option. What they have failed to realise is that most people don't want to watch iplayer on their phone at home, that is what TV's / Computers are for. They want to be able to watch iplayer without internet, on a train or in a car. Hell, this doesn't even let you over 3g let alone download them!

Wifi only and no offline== utterly pointless. The only time it's usable is when you're at home where I suspect most people have access to a number of tv or computer screens all bigger than a phone screen.

Or when you are in a wifi hot spot which is probably how it was designed to be used.
As for your comment regarding being pointless when you are a home ..... ask yourself how often you have used your mobile when a perfectly serviceable landline is just a couple of feet away!

to be fair im not sure why theres a massive big cry going on bout this ONLY being wifi etc...

nokia ONLY gets the beeb player via wifi and they have a extremely poor browser so have no hope in hell of running the site through the browser....

whereas at least the top range (and mid range) android phones running 2.2 can still use the default web browser....yes its NOT as clean and 'nice' as using the player....but you STILL get the iplayer right?

so why is everyone complaining?

The servicable landline option is not always the best option, as most people have a phone contract package which includes 'free' minutes that we've paid for, so we try to get our money's worth......

I believe he was referring to the fact of internet not actual calls....saying like "why bother with using phone at home for net when you have a hardline and computer for that" least I hope anyway....as calls really has no bearing in this thread lol :D
