iPhone updaters beware!

AT&T just informed that since I'm coming from in iPhone data plan, I cant keep my unlimited data plan. Looks like I'm probably staying with freaking apple, bs!!

One extra no charge feature you get with iPhone data plans is the curse of Steve Jobs. Therefore you're screwed.

Ok. All kidding aside. There's absolutely no difference other than your plan being labeled at the demand (true) of Jobs. As the "iPhone Data Plan" when you switch to an Inspire it reverts back to being labeled a "smart phone data plan".

I know. I'm dumping my sub par iPhone 4 which I have on my (years old) smartphone plan that was relabeled iPhone plan when I added the iPhone. I've already contacted AT&T in advance to advise of my upcoming purchase plans. No worries you can keep your unlimited plan.

who knows what will happen once we switch. 3 different AT&T employees have told me different things. Once we finally switch, anyone of those different 3 can do whatever they like it seems. I am really hesitant on this now! I've been with them since the Cingular days and they are getting bad as time progresses!

Quote their own website, their own press releases... you'll be fine.

Just breathe...................................

I, too, am coming from an iPhone. You'll be okay.

My answer to everything:

Call cancellations

Why threaten?

If they call your bluff you've backed yourself into a corner and you're screwed.

I simply call regular customer service, do a little negotiating & get a new phone at the upgrade price every year. It's far easier and they're always happy to accommodate me.

The extra plus is there's no confrontation or heated exchange.

It's a win/win for everyone....:)

I wouldn't trust AT&T for long on this. I had the $30 unlimited plan for a year with my Nexus One and recently, they stripped me of it. And no matter how many people I talked too, they couldn't care less nor would they give it back to me. They said I had to have the tiered plan because I was using a smart phone. The highest manager I talked too said they do system sweeps randomly and they just switched me. So you never know, they could pull the rug out later once they've got you into a new phone. I called it on the tethering snafu for the Moto Atrix way before it was every announced. AT&T is the devil, don't trust them.

Who said threaten. Ask your etf and when they ask why you are looking to cancel, tell them your gripe. You don't back yourself into anything. You can always hang up the phone (they have to confirm the action before they proceed) or you can just say you'd like to think about. Who said anything about heated exchange lol? Did you even read my post?

So pick up the new phone in Radio Shack and then call to mention the etf? At that point they already have you, right? You just renewed at that point, correct?

I'd call before you buy anything. Call cancellations, ask what your etf is. Get them to ask you why you are leaving and tell them they won't let me keep my unlimited data when I switch to the inspire. If he offers to help, make sure he notes it in his computer. It may be though that they aren't allowing unlim data on 4g phones no matter what. That's how I understood the leaked document from last night....

So much panic and misinformation. You can keep your unlimited plan. Clearly stated in your terms. No, the "new 4G plan" is not going to change what you have. They don't even have 4G yet. Ugh!!!
I'm not sure if its misinformation. If you read the document, it clealry says retired unlimited data plans are not replicated on 4g, people looking to upgrade to 4g data plans will have to choose one of the available 4g plans. You tell me what you think that means....

some of you are very confident but we are all at their mercy. I for one won't count anything done and good till a few months have gone by. There is no way I can switch. My wife has a group discount so we are stuck!

I'm a man. I'm at no ones mercy. I am a customer and if they screw me ill go to big red, tmo, or sprint. And they know this and are inclined to retain me as a customer. So I play the cards I'm dealt until I run into aces. Then I play the next hand until I come out on top. As in this case, or many others in life. I win a lot =)

All of a sudden, The Gambler started playing in my head...."you gotta know when to hold 'em..."

There are NO 4G data plans. They don't exist. (Or at least not where I live they don't.) I couldn't buy one if I wanted to. In addition, there was an AT&T exec who clarified this last night. Us folks with unlimited will get to keep our unlimited for as long as we have smartphones.
Now, if and when AT&T makes a change concerning this, it will mean a change in our contract. At that time I will be permitted to end my contract without early termination fee because of their change in the terms. So it's a win-win for me because the phone is only costing me $99. I'd be happy to take my phone somewhere else.

The information I'm citing comes from an internal att circular leaked on the internet last night. When it goes in effect is unclear. However, its a safe assumption it'll be pretty soon.

In my experience, att employees are generally clueless to information such as this. Most lkely this is by design so information isn't leaked.

Time will tell my friend
