I followed the instructions on how to add Froyo to my HTC Desire. I first downloaded the HTC sync. Then i downloaded the upgrade software which took 2hrs . While that was downloading I read the PDF file on what to do next and it advised me to make sure that I have the USB cable connected to both PC and Phone and to ensure that it was on Disk Mode. I got through the whole thing and it says that error 170 occured and to ensure that it was connected to phone or its my ports. I have rebooted my pc and pulled the battery on my phone just in case. I am able to transfer files from my computer to my phone and vice versa......so whats the problem:thinking:...anybody have any recommendations.

I'm going to venture a guess that your PC is running Windows 7 64bit. I ran into the exact same problem when I first tried the US Cellular Froyo update. Made it all the way through the update initialization, but it threw the error as soon as the bood loader started. I tried it on a Win XP machine and the update completed without issue.

Hope this helps.

You need to download HTC 3.0 sync from the htc website before you can use to froyo update. Goto the htc website and download htc sync 3.0 and save to your desktop. Install this onto your computer and open it so it can install adobe AIR. Connect your htc under sync only. If you are on windows 7 you will need to run as administrator to install Adobe AIR. The program will say device not found after it boots up. Close out the program. Now run the Froyo update from uscellular. This should fix the issue!

Good luck
