DL30 is yesterday's Trash: It's all about EB01, baby...

Everyone who has EB01, can you post any bugs you find or any major differences you have noticed. I also have flashed the modem with the latest, and have noticed a better battery life, but haven't used it enough to know to what degree.

I'm running Adryn's super clean 2 of EB01. I miss the ASOP lock screen, but other than that, everything is running perfect.

What have you noticed?

There is a aosp lock screen zip that comes with battery % as well as recovery button

At first it wouldn't boot when i flashed this. Then it rebooted the 2nd time. Now I'm getting alot of those short error virbrates ( normal vibrate, 1 second pause, followed by 3 or 4 short vibrates) I'm not sure what's causing it.

I still can't add my Facebook account to sync with my contacts either :/

So one of the first things I do when booting up a new Rom is to dial *228 option 2 to update my towers. I noticed in DL30, and now in EB01 that regardless of a successful or unsuccessful commit that the dialer (or something) FC's and the phone immediately reboots the modem. (Goes into Airplane mode, then back again.)

Anyone else having that problem? Also, is the above the same as dialing *22899? Because *22899 seems more like activation than a tower update.

Have you flashed your modem with the updated bin file? I've had absolutely 0 (zero) problems with Super Clean 2.0 EB01, the new modem file, the asop battery/lock screen mod, VooDoo, and anything else. Everything is working perfect.

As a matter of fact, I was on this forum right now to post that my battery life seems a 100x times better now with the new modem file. Everything is working great, couldn't be happier.

Oh and I just put VooDoo on, and WOW! I judged the difference based on the load times of Gameloft games, which is the most disk usage intensive app I have found so far. The difference is like night and day. The load times are virtually gone (down to a couple seconds).

I truly think the Samsung Fascinate (or Galaxy S) now with 2.2 is the best phone for the money out right now. Obviously, the dual core monsters are going to tear the SF down from its throne, but right now, its by far the best all around Android phone in my opinion.

True.
It took awhile before speaking as a launch day SF owner this is what we expected when we all got the SF based on hardware specs. Finally with software catching up we're sittin' pretty

I have to agree completely. Same here. I backed up my files from the sd card and formatted it, then Odin'd the stock DJ09 package on the xda forums to get a clean stock start. Then Odin'd EB01 modem, then installed clockwork recovery, installed SuperClean2.0 and then installed asop lock/battery mod package and last installed the EB01 voodoo installer.

Its been super slick with no issues thus far.

Yeah this phone absolutely rocks now. The battery does not drain for me either. I made a post the other week asking if anyone else was having the same problem as I was; I was playing hulu through a DL30 superclean, and my battery was literally dropping at more than 1% a minute. After watching a 44minute episode, my battery was in the 40's%. Can you effing believe that? I'm assuming it was due to some incompatibility between the modem firmware and the froyo software. But still, I mean, wow. I was plugging my phone in religiously, and still have the habit now, which is funny cause I can go out for a several hours, use my phone for everything from gps directions, mp3 player, email, etc. and come back home with it at about 90%.

I don't know if anyone here has played around with the Nexus S, but that is simply what our phone should be. Just proof that solid software for our hardware is the answer.

Yeah this phone is finally what it should be. And all it took was getting the company who created the phone the hell away from it and let some decent (read: awesome) programmers/dev's edit some code voila'. Have you not learned your freaking lesson yet companies!?

I was getting these too when I first flashed it. For me it was the email app forceclosing, but the FC dialog would disappear before I could read it. How I fixed that was to go into Home -> Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> All -> Email, and then clicked Clear data. It asked if I was sure I wanted to delete all of its data and I said yes. I haven't had the error vibrations since, and Email (not Gmail) doesn't crash when I open it anymore either. Maybe that'll help you too.

That same exact thing happened to me. I only noticed it once I restored data from advanced cwr. So I just restored back to the original eb01 flash before I did the restore of data. All is fine now for me too.

after about a week of using EB01, I've gotta say that rooting this thing and installing froyo saved the phone for me.

I went from having to turn off my phone at 3 o'clock every day at work to leaving work with 25% or more battery left. I work in a metal building with poor reception, and it was killing my battery life. Now, I turn off mobile data during the day, can still send and receive text messages and phone calls, but my battery's just fine. I even use it more... I listened to a one hour podcast one day in addition to my two or three 5-minute angry birds sessions and still had plenty of juice when I got home.

I've noticed slightly better reception too, but that is likely just observation bias, because I love my phone so much more now that it's got froyo on it.

I must say that after moving to Froyo, the phone is night and day different in so many ways!
First off, my car cradle actually works as intended! The only thing that I can't seem to make work is having the conversation come through the car speakers during a call like I can with the music. It isn't that big of a deal, but it would be a nice bonus!

Secondly, battery life seems to completely rock as the above posts stated! I am talking about a serious increase in terms of life of a fully charged Fascinate! Full day, no problem with average use and potentially 2 days with limited use. (Still trying to find out exactly what I can get away with...)

As neotrixy pointed out earlier. It is probably the best phone available until the dual core monsters come out to play! Even when they get here, the Fascinate is still going to be one of the better phones available. (At least until the carriers sell through the remaining stock of the other models.) Why couldn't they have released this phone running like it is now?? Verizon and Samsung both have their positive sides, but damn they sure know how to bloat and mess up a damn good hardware setup!..

everything was working better with adrenalyns 2.4 superclean eb01 until i lost access to my contacts.
for some reason i can't access my phone contacts any more. Tried getting to them from the contacts tab when the dial pad is showing and it does that vibrate error ( 1 short, few seconds later several short vibrations) then fc acore. contacts widget on the home screen doesn't work (could not launch activity) and conact icon in the app drawer is gone. previously set speed dials still work, and spelling their name on the dial pad still works.
Any Ideas?

adrenalyn superclean 2.4 through odin
red cwm recovery
launcher pro
midnight theme by bigloof (flashed through rommanager)

it could be the contacts.apk used in the theme is not compatible with the rom or is borked

Wasn't sure what happened because I have had the theme over a week, whatever the case I pasted a new copy of contacts apk from the currently installed rom and all is well again. I really didn't need a themed homescreen icon/widget for contacts anyway, so if that was the problem it's fixed now. Thank you for your help
