Hello, when I connect my LG Optimus V to the USB port the USB notification icon never showed up on the phone therefore I have no way to mount the phone. The computer found the device, installed the driver, and told me the device is ready to be used. However under My Computer (windows 7 32 bit) I don't see any new device listed.

I've tried various methods suggested by other threads but nothing helped (for example: http://androidforums.com/samsung-mo...e-phone-but-will-not-mount-ask-mount-etc.html). Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the response, TVCCS. I did come across this post and tried the mentioned method but still no luck. The driver installed successfully and Windows said it's ready to use. However there's no new drive letter showed up in the Windows Explorer and there's no notification icon showed up on my phone.

Bluetooth connection, on the other hand, worked fine. I can browse the folders via bluetooth and download pictures from the microSD card to my harddrive without any problem.

I also tried to enabling the debug mode in Application, no luck there either.

The one other thing that's happened to a few people is that the card may need to be reformatted, preferably with the phone's system. That's the one other thing I can think of at this point if you've enabled USB storage on the phone and it's still not showing up. If you have another cable around, you might try that as well.

Thanks for the suggestions. I reformatted the card and switched cables to one that worked for my wife and still can't see the notification icon when it is connected to my PC...

When you say "if you've enabled USB storage on the phone" what does it mean? Is there a setting somewhere that I can turn it before connecting?

Thank you!

In order to mount the card so it can be seen by the PC, you have to Turn On USB Storage in Notifications after connecting it via cable. Click the Menu button and you'll see the Notifications tab, click that, and then click the Turn On USB Storage screens.

Yeah that's exactly what I'm looking for. The USB icon just won't show up in the notifications tab... Driving me nuts. Thanks for the help, though.

I'm curious as to whether you can enable USB debugging on this phone and have it show up in Notifications...I have that enabled because of a tethering app, and that's the other notification that shows up in the window with USB storage.

MENU, select Applications > Development, then enable USB debugging

If that shows up, and you've done everything else to try and get the card mounted and it won't (and you can format the card in something else and load files to it), then it would seem something's amiss with the phone. I've seen one other report of a guy getting a bad USB cable out of the box, but that's it.

Problem is finally solved today!! Thanks TVCCS for all the suggestions.

Turned out, the microSD card that came with the phone couldn't be recognized by my computers (all three of them) no matter how I unmount/remount/format them. I bought a new one today -- 8GB class 6 -- put it into the phone and presto! It worked immediately.

Guess Virgin or LG should stop shipping those lower grade memory cards so people don't run into this issue in the future.

Glad you found the issue...that actually the first report I've seen of an issue with the OEM card...they're usually pretty solid.
