Root TheUltimateDroid Gingerbread 3.0 Final!

For those running it, how is your battery life? OR if you have switched from other GB roms how does it compare?

From my experience, the battery life using this has been unreal. It's higher for me than cm6.12 was, and I'd classify that was amazing as well.

As for the redraws, I've had to switch from Launcher Pro since flashing GB roms. I imagine his rewrite of it will fix most of the issues, hopefully that will be coming out soon. For the mean time, ADW EX has kept me happy.

Every notice that whenever any new ROM comes out someone always says it is "blazing fast" and has the best battery life ever :)
I can honestly say for my usage that CM7 nightlys have been really good for me, as i tend to talk alot on the phone during the day, an play alot of music when im not on the phone. I jump on the FB an Twitter 5 or 6 times a day an my battery has lasted great for me. UD3's RC's gave me the worst battery life, which still wasnt that bad, as at the end of an 8 hour day, i was down to 5 an 10% battery. CM7's seemed to have about 30% more battery left with the same usage. To each his own.

Installed the ROM last night and I gotta say...WOW. I was on the CM7 nightlies and hadn't seen an improvement in the past 5-8 nightlies on the stability and daily usability of the roms.

After using this ROM, the CM7 nightlies seemed like a joke. Everything is working perfectly and is FAST. When I say fast...it has the same wow-factor that I got when upgrading from 2.1 to 2.2. This is how GB was meant to be.

Great job to UD...been a huge fan of your work! Keep it up!

ps. only small problem I've seen is that when you have an active alarm and select the ROM to show battery percentage on the lock screen at all times, the two texts overlap on one-another and are illegible. when held horizontally, no issue.

This post should be added as an example to the Wikipedia entry for "The Placebo Effect"

Just my opinion, but I've been running nothing but GB ROMs since they've hit this forum and my battery life has suffered with EVERY one. I can't seem to find the right kernel to help either. The biggest problem though, is now I'm addicted to Gingerbread ... so I can't go back.

Have to completely agree. I've only seen huge battery problems since running GB ROMs. I just saw today running this one for only a day that I was at 5% in 12hrs under barely any use. I made sure to set my screen off profile super low with SetCPU as well. Hopefully some optimizations will be made in ROMs/Kernels in the near future.

One thing everyone can agree on is this rom is stupid-fast! Also, i have not had the buggy 3g issues i have with C-Rom, CM7, or even Pete's GB. After using it all day (some surfing, gps, texting, and killing mutant pigs with frustrated, wingless birds), i wound up at 20% battery...all within 5 hours. Good battery life? Maybe if i tone it down a bit. But i do have that usb cord handy all day.

:)

**edit: may have spoken too soon about the 3g issue. Ran this rom all afternoon through this morning, made one call, & had to toggle airplane mode to get my 3g back...thought this was fixed a while back?

Gotta love how bad battery life is at first, due to messing with the new rom and trying things out lol

I just installed my first ROM on Friday - Peter Alfonso's 2.3.2. After 3 days, still frustrated with the delay coming out of sleep mode, and the delay of the screen turning on after a call, and having gotten over my fear of ROMming, I decided to try UD 3.0.0.

As someone who didn't root until my warranty was expired about 3 months ago, and had a first ROM installation as above, all I can say is... WOW! Why didn't I do this sooner?

What attracted me to Peter's ROM was the vanilla aspect of it. But what I've discovered is that there's more to Droid than just stock and vanilla. Now that I know what custom ROMs are like, I'll never go back to stock or vanilla again. I feel like a kid in a candy store, with a brand new phone!

Been a long time since I seen this many ROMs come out in this short of time. Def a pleasant surprise. I'm currently running LGBv1.2 and I wanted to give a day before I try this one out. 1.1 gave me the best battery life I've had on GB, so I felt it was def worth a look-see. Def plan on checking this out, though.

The ROM was just released yesterday, and you want to know where to find a theme for it?
Good luck with that...

I saw a new app installed Id never seen before after this rom called theme chooser so thats why I asked the question. If no one else has it then im guessing it was something google reinstalled from a previous download which I dont remember unless anyone else has it showing?

I'd have to agree here, too. Every GB ROM has caused a noticeable decrease in battery life, vs Froyo, for my device.

Also, I'm unable to send downloads to my device via the web-based Android Market.

The speed I'm getting is definitely not placebo, definitely the fastest ROM I've ever used. The random reboots I'd get occasionally (mostly when the screen was off) from the CM nightly I was using are gone too.

Just recorded a video:
Just curious as to how much of the speed is attributed to the 1.2GHz overclock, as opposed to the ROM. It's certainly quick, but I also notice proportional increases when I bump things up to 1GHz, which given the dramatic difference in performance, seems independent of the ROM.

Help

When I click on the link in the OP thread, I get a page with a bunch of "Warning function in array wrong data type" locations. How can I load this rom?

And is there a set procedure I should follow when installing a new rom? I read about clearing delvik(sp) but could someone please break it down for dummy's.

Droid 1 - UD 3.0.0 - The Ultimate Droid - Forums

You will have to register but then the download button on that page is a direct link.

If you are rooted easiest way to install rom is download the free rom manager app from the market (put the rom on your SD card)...open rom manager and choose install rom from sd card (find the rom) it will ask you if you want to wipe data I always choose yes...and then she will do the rest for you (backing up of rom is also an option)

Ah that is the new T-Mobile Theme app that T-Mobile released as open source, it is on this ROM and CM7 so far that I know of. There are a few themes out now on the Android Market that work with it. It seems to be the way themes are going to be going as it is a simple one click way to theme your phone. No more having to flash a new theme the old way. Simply go into the app and choose your theme and hit apply. Don't even have to reboot.

You can search the Market for T-Mobile Theme Chooser, or Theme Chooser. Like I said there should be a few themes out there.

Oh and the other good thing about the Theme Chooser is that it has the ability to theme everything, including ring tones, walpaper, and launcher docks. The thing is sweet!
