Battery Life/Tips and Tricks

Hmmmm, I did the same as the post before me. Got home around noon, charged it to 100% for 2 hours. Started playing on it at about 2:15PM. I was basically on it the whole afternoon. On and off the WiFi, app installing / browsing, internet, mail, etc. Didn't put it down for about 7 strait hours.

The 15% battery warning came on at around 10PM. It reported 7.5 hours since last hooked up to charger. It showed that 85% of the battery used up was for the Display. So, I put it on the charger until 12:15AM for another 100% charge. Will see how long this lasts.

Does all this sound about right?

Probably. 7 hours is pretty good for constant use. I wasn't using mine nonstop, just off and on. it's hard to do anything for more than a few minutes at a time with two young kids in the house! :D

FWIW, I download and install Juice Defender from the market on mine before I did anything else.

Same here. After getting the phone I just started downloading apps and running them, checking email, using the web, made and received some phone calls, texting like a teen and still managed 7 hours before I got the 15% warning. It was nearly fully charged when I got it after activation. No complaints at this point.

Screens seem to be the.culprit. I'll start turning down the brightness when surfing in the dark as the screen used 77% of the power last charge.

After my second charge now, the screen is still taking up almost 80% of the charge. "16 hours since last unplug" and the screen is using the most juice. The rest of the phone functions are all 6% and under.

What are some tips to limit the amount of battery the screen uses? I have it set to "Auto Brightness" and to go into idle after 1 minute. Should I just force it to super low brightness?

yeah. Usually Auto takes up a bunch of power. I'd go 10-15% if your eyes are comfortable with that. I currently use the lowest on my iphone lol

I think one of the biggest tips that I have never seen someone state:

Do NOT go OCD on your battery, just use the phone and do NOT worry about the battery until you get the 15% warning, notate when you took off charger and when you get your warning, that will be your best, in my opinion way to tell how well your battery is. Just do NOT check it period, remove the battery meters everything you got and just USE the phone. This is my 6th different android device and as soon as I started doing this. My android phones lasted all day and well into the nights.

This is just my opinion and has worked well for me in the past and will do it on this phone too. :D

I played Dungeon Defenders for about 15 minutes (maybe not even 15 mins) and my battery went from 91% to 66% just like that LOL

This was about 2 and half hours ago and since then I read a bit on Kindle, sent a few text messages, light browsing and now my battery is at 60%. I guess the GPU draws a lot from the battery.

Yea that's definitely probable although that's not a horrible drain for gaming
