Too bad it's only 2.2 and single core. I'm positive it'll get 2.4 shortly after release though. There aren't really too many advantages right now for dual core, other than bragging rights. I've been praying to the cell phone gods that the Dinc's successor would have a 4 inch screen, looks like they listened.

Almost perfect but there isn't a trackpad. I use mine all the time and I would surely miss it.

Yeah, lose amoled to gain a ~20% better processor and marginally larger screen that loses trackpad. New sense is great and all, but can already do that with current incredible and roms. This thing has no appeal to me as a current Inc owner.

Guess it is nice that the design will be used more widespread than just verizon, but I am confused as to their marketing strategy. So they have quite similar Inc S and Desire S, and both will be marketed worldwide? There is less to distinguish the 2 these days, especially when they will potentially be used in the same markets. Wording on articles seems to indicate these are both intended for release outside US this year, maybe that means by the time the designs hit here they will be upgraded a bit.

Here's to hoping by late 2010 they have an actual Incredible 2 come out in the US with a dual core snapdragon and 4 in super amoled plus screen. That would be the one I'd go crazy for. Trackpad negotiable!

I'm gonna have to agree with johnChad14. These phones are hardly an improvement from what we have right now, especially after all this time.

I can see why AMOLED wasn't included. I'm sure they don't want to repeat what happened the first time. I remember the wait for the first DINC was over a month due to the whole AMOLED shortage.

But everyone one is right here, to see SAMOLED and Trackpad back would have been sweeeeeet. However, this is a decent refresher for the DINC.

It's doubtful we'll see many HTC phones with AMOLED displays in the immediate future. Last year was a very hard lesson regarding reliance on SMD as a supplier. While SMD claims that they can turns things around with the opening of their new factory this year, it remains to be seen.

So the Incredible S is 4", and the Desire S is 3.7". I'm not a fan of a larger phone, but perhaps the extra screen real estate is negated by the loss of the touchpad.

The CPU is the same speed as our current one, but the smaller process means better battery life (if all other things were equal). The GPU is a little shy of being twice as fast as the current Incredible's GPU. The 50% memory boost is also nice.

Bummer. I understand why the went with a 4" screen to satisfy current owners and the majority, but I want a big screen. No touchpad and 4" screen is a bit disappointing, but everybody is getting rid of it I guess. Ho hum processor, LESS internal memory, 1450 mAh battery (still not big enough) all leave me less than impressed.

I thought I'd be jumping ship soon, but nothing seems like the next best thing, so I'll be keeping my DI for the foreseeable future. Good thing it kicks ass. I bet some 4.3" super phone from HTC or Motorola will roll out at the end of 2011 that might entice me.

I'm not too impressed. Is it an improvement? Sure, but a pretty negligible one. HTC is just refreshing, not innovating. If it wasn't for the locked bootloaders, I'd take the Bionic or Atrix(damn you AT&T) over this any day. I'll probably wait it out a few more months and pick up whatever seems to be the best then. I'm not a fanboy of any company, so whoever can wow me with the best specs and quality will get my money.

Add me to the unimpressed crowd. I do NOT want an oversized 4.3" screen so the 4" screen would be perfect. I can live without a hard keyboard, but I am quite fond of the trackpad. I am also look for a dual core phone as my replacement, but that's a moot point since I can't upgrade until January anyway.

Although not a requirement, I'd miss the red accents.

I won't upgrade to a new device until there is one I want running 2.3 at least if not 2.4. I already have a phone running 2.2.

Is it just me or do those endgadget photos make the screen look like it has a cheap junky scratch protector screen on it? I hope the screen quality doesn't look like that in person it looks really blurry for the specs...

I cannot see myself 'upgrading' to this. I like the slightly larger screen and the %50 RAM increase is nice, but it is not an 'Incredible' w/o the trackpad, imo.
Also, any new phone without dual core is lame.

I love my Inc and I'm glad they are keeping the brand around...but like many have said, there aren't any HUGE improvements over our already great phone. I'll keep mine for the next year and whatever few months I have left on contract then trade up for the latest and greatest (quad-core! http://www.droid-life.com/2011/02/1...-2-5ghz-quad-core-mobile-processors-holy-sht/) at that time.

Meh, why get that? Just buy the T-bolt, they're nearly the same phone minus .3 inches of screen space. I'll probably go Bionic I guess, I hate to leave HTC, but nothing they're putting out right now is impressing me like the Bionic does. Guess I'll wait and see how the dual-core phones actually stack up when they're released and what optimizations 2.4 actually brings for the twin cores.

I like the design, a mix between inc and original nexus one( which I initially wanted before the inc came out, and was waiting for it to come out on Verizon) but like others here are saying, specs still aren't impressing me enough to switch, considering I had my last phone for 6 years I don't mind hanging onto the inc for a while, I'll hold out for the htc dual core phones.

The new model's SOC is on a smaller process which means noticeably better battery life, so consider that addressed at least to a degree. As for the trackball, have you tried the new Sense UI yet? It has a press and hold feature that helps with quick typing edits (Android 2.3 also as a feature that works, but isn't as nice).

I've used both CM7 (2.3) and Uber Z (new Sense), and when using them to edit texts, I find both to be superior to the trackball.
