Should I buy a new gTab for $380, or $330-$380 for a almost new one, rooted, ROMed, case, and a microSD card, or wait for another tablet to come out this year?

IMO, if you buy the gtablet at either price, I think it'll keep you occupied until the newer tablets come out and the prices stablize. I don't think any of the better tablets will be priced lower than $499 at least not until next year.

The gtablet is a nice 10 inch tab and its wifi only.

This brings up a good question. What does anyone think the life expectancy might be on the G tab. I don't mean dropping it and breaking it or newer technology replacing it but things like screen and battery life (can a battery be replaced?). Seems solid but .....

If you are worried about the screen, even the cheapest LCD's should last for many years, so it will be obsolete before the screen goes (barring defect or accidental damage). The battery should be replaceable by Viewsonic if it is not user replaceable.

Yikes - quite a lot packed into that little pad. I assume that the silver circles are the batteries stacked? Little hard to tell what all I am looking at in the picture. Hope I don't have to change them ever but many a device it seems the batteries go first and the maker doesn't make it easy to replace!
