Hey guys! New to the forum and bought my Inspire on the the day of release and loving it! However, I do have one small problem. I also posted this over at Android Central but haven't had any replies.

When I brought the phone home, the first thing I did was put some custom ringtones on it (I used the same .mp3 files I used on my Captivate) and while I never had any problems on my Captivate with the files and output quality, it seems I get a little distortion (mostly from bass) on the Inspire. I tried this with a movie, YouTube and music and everything seems to get some kind of distortion. When I plug in my headphones everything is crisp. Is the built speaker just not that great? Thanks in advance!

DOLBY Mobile SRS is Amazing!

With a good headset the sound is nearly as good as my $10k Home Theater setup.

While my Captivate is far better than my Droid X, this Inspire beats them all.

While it's only been a few days, I continue to discover more & more I like about my HTC Inspire. To think about the huge number (now 43) of phones I've had in the last five years, and how far smartphones have progressed is truly amazing.

It's highly likely I will continue using this Inspire for some time, even as I follow my normal practice of upgrading as new models are released. This is why I have 4 lines activated with different carriers, I'm completely hooked on mobile communications & computing.

Carrying one of my laptops & a minimum of two phones each day, provides me with enjoyable variety & allows me to remain on the cutting edge of new technologies.

I agree - the speaker is terrible. Anything coming out of it is completely distorted, I'm going to return mine :(

DOLBY Mobile SRS is BS

I'm still considering taking it back, but it's a bummer since I can't root and back up all my apps.

And from my understand (and pls correct me if I'm wrong cos I don't know everything :D) is that the Dolby SRS is only used/activated when the headphones are plugged in... and like I said, when the headphones are plugged in the sound is AMAZING.

@AndreaCristiano Do you think I should return my phone for a new one? It seems it's hit or miss with people that are having the same problems.

Yea I would say if the speaker is that bad/ that much of an issue I would def exchange it. You can always reset up the phone the way you want.

I fixed my problem with the audio - dobly screeching sound...and the same fix worked when I couldn't get my pc to sync or recognize the HTC Inspire...LET THE BATTERY DRAIN!!! And I mean DRAIN IT! Make sure u try turn the phone back on, and keep running apps and/or videos until it prompts you, Battery life down - plug in charger, and go past that and suck the sucker dry. When u think phone is done, turn it on and keep turning it on until u there is NO LIFE LEFT. Try to turn it on, no light, no vibration, THEN reconnect.I know someone will reply and say why not just: reboot (didn't work for me); restart pc (didn't work); reinstall (reinstalled sync so many times I considered reformatting pc); some will say yank the battery with phone on (dangerous to your phone and data - I wouldn't even suggest u take the sd card out without phone off). Hope this helps, I seen alot of people wanting to send the phone back because of these two problems...It's a great phone, to me...
