Is it me or does the speakerphone on the Inspire suck? Very tinny and not very loud. I use the speakerphone alot for work conference calls and it is just not usable. People on the other end of the call have some difficulting hearing me, but they say it is not that bad, this is more on my end. This is really disappointing.

Is anyone else experiencing this issue or did I maybe get a lemon?

Other than this, I really enjoy this phone and while I have pre-ordered the Atrix, I am serioulsy considering cancelling that order and sticking with the Inspire but the speakerphone issue may be a deal breaker.

Don't know if it's a problem or that I'm used to good audio from my iPhone's speaker. I'm comparing the two side by side and my iphone4 audio blows is away.

its definitely a problem then because the iphone4 speaker sucked big ones and when my gf uses hers next to my inspire hers is barely audible. Also If you notice turning the phone screen down makes the speaker LOUDER LOL its true

I did know turning the phone over and placing it facedown actually turns the speakerphone on, but mine does not get louder when I turn it over as oppossed to just holding it. with the speakerphone on. I think I have a bumb until.

Spent all that time getting the way I wanted, now I may have to swap:(. I usually use Titanium backup for my phones, but that requires Root access, which I do not have on this phone yet. Is there a way to backup all of my contacts to my sim card? Never tried that before.

No but your contacts should be backed up into your gmail so it will all show up when you sign in and all the settings you have saved on your HTC account I believe are the same scenario. I mean do you use the speaker that much?

yea it seems as though there is def an issue with your unit, i would go swap it

Just doesn't sound right... LOL

Seriously though I would see if you could swap it out. I know that when they were setting mine up at the store they had to give me another one right there. The one they were setting up wouldn't recognize the sim card.

Speakerphone - Several times a day. I like to multitask while listening to conf calls and holding a phone to my ear for 1-2 hours at a pop is not for me, and either is my BT headset for that long. I may just bring it by my corp store and compare it and see what's up.

Mine is bad as well. If I speak to close to the phone it comes out garbled on the other end. Plus the call quality is not great even when not on speakerphone. I will have to take it back and hopefully get one that is better. If not this isue is a deal breaker as first and foremost this is a phone.

Everyone is hard on blackberry but they have had the best sound quality for their speakerphones for years. Can anyone comment on sound quality versus the captivate. The unit my mom had did not have a great speakerphone as well.

You could just plug it into an external speaker like desktop pc speakers...

I do conference calls in areas with no access to ext speakers. I am in different rooms/buildings/etc. I sometimes need to leave for an issue and go to another area, thus I seldom use the office desk phones that are sometimes available. It is just easier for me to use my cell for conf calls and easier for me to use the speakerphone.

Like I said, this is not a deal breaker in anyway and If I compare my unit to another and there is a significant difference, I will swap it out, if not, I will live with it or work around it.

i was thinking that it was just me, but glad to know i am not alone in thinking the speakerphone volume is low. i am in the same boat as others, hate to switch it out. now it is not setup anything major but i do not know if its worth resetting what i have. i will go the corp store and see as well and then make a decision. the bb torch speaker was louder than this one.
