Abandoning Virtuous - similar alternatives?

I started to research this very question when there were posts on XDA which indicated that something like 23 of the apps in Virtuous v3.2 were actually from a prior beta and not even the OTA. While I wouldn't REALLY care about that either, because Virtuous is solid, what got to me was that there was not even a response (and the poster had listed the apps). At the best, no response was a sign of a ROM not being further developed, at the worst, the poster was right and we are running off of a very old ROM.

SO ... I have been looking around, and many of the defectors from Virtuous seem to be heading to Magnolia. That Dev is expecting to release v1.2 very shortly, and I figured that if I have to do a full wipe, I may as well wait for the update. That said, if it is going to drag out too much longer, I may use the long weekend to flash v1.1.1 and the fix which is required.

Virtuous is designed to be as close to stock as possible and thus it is the easiest to flash. You do not even have to do a wipe (which is time-consuming if you want all your apps and settings back). Complaints about it not being updated, etc. really don't make much sense, as it's only necessary to update it when the Incredible stock ROM is updated.

I've read the stuff about the "non-current" apps cooked into it, but essentially all of them can be loaded externally, and I killed both the stock Android and HTC music players because of their tendency to autostart when my Incredible is connected via Bluetooth to my Ford.

While I have been happy with Virtuous, I am waiting for Magnolia 1.2 to come out (imminently, according to the developer), as of all the other Sense-based non-AOSP ROM's for the Incredible, it appears most stable.

Incredibly Re-Engineered also appeals to me, and has a dizzying variety of modifications and themes available, but it has one issue still through the current version, and that's no MMS over Wifi, which is a deal-breaker for me because we have only marginal cellular service in the house.

Not to beat a dead horse, particularly since you said the exact same thing I did (and made the same recommendation), I think the quoted text is in conflict, and it is also the BIG problem.

The out of date apps which are (allegedly) cooked into Virtuous would then mean that when the incredible stock ROM was updated, he should have updated Virtuous. If I remember the responses when the order was Leak -> Virtuous -> Full Release; RMK40 simply said that he had compared the leak to the release and they were identical. This may not be the case.

SO ... even from what you said, RMK should have updated or responded.

Standing by for Magnolia v1.2 ...
