How much more time with extended battery?

The 1750 mAh battery (which is not yet available) will boost battery life by approximately 25% depending on usage. The best part is that this battery will be the same size as the current 1300 mAh that comes with the phone. If you go to their website (seidioonline.com) and sign up they will send you emails about current products and let you know when the battery will be available.

Is there any reason to worry about a higher capacity battery giving off more heat? At times, both my screen and the back of my Eris get a little too hot and I believe it's from the battery, because while making phonecalls, the screen turns itself off.

The screen turns itself off because of the proximity sensor that is designed to prevent your face from making commands to the phone.

just checked that website, there's a 1750mAh battery for $50...and a 3500mAh for $70.

clear choice would be the 3500...imo.

thats what i thought too but it requires a a custom back cover (that comes free with the battery) but it will add 3-4mm in width to the device and i am not sure that is ideal considering an important part of the eris imo is the slim profile ... i will be making a very tough decision very soon!

Well I am in the same boat. Let me know which you decide on. I am assuming if the 1750 will give an extra 25% then the 3500 will be an extra 75%?

A 3rd choice is to buy a $10 standard battery off of ebay and this dual desktop charger for $15. You start off the day with two fully charged batteries and when one goes dead, pop in the other battery. No changes to your phone's appearance and better boost than the 1700 mah. Some people buy 2-3 extras since they are pretty much throwaways at $10 per.

My experience with my last phone was that the extra battery worked just as well as the original and making the swap was really not a PITA like I thought it would be. Just a 20 second swap.

damn...thats a very cheap alternative. and seems like it would be worth it, imo also, instead of the extra 3-4mm...cause thats huge! plus, what would happen to the sound from the speaker and the camera area of view with the peep hole farther away and the hole for sound farther as well...

maybe if i just kept a charged one in my glovebox - i wonder how well it would keep the charge for when i need it.

Edit: You, of course have to pay for shipping but it's cheap USPS so I added it up for myself because I'm just anal like that and I came up with $30.80 for a cradle with cheaper battery. (That cradle is kind of cool because we can't have a media dock but we it does put the phone upright for you to be able to access it easily during the night.)

OEM just means that the battery came off the same assembly line as the battery in your phone but can't anyone stamp the HTC logo on there and say it's OEM?

The $10 batteries are aftermarket and they may be more cheaply made but the only way to know is to try. Most people that I've talked to have told me that the cheap batteries last and perform just as long as an OEM.

As for the cradle, you can give it a shot to see. You may want to write the seller to ask them if it is made to charge your cell batt by itself. Universal charger seems a little iffy to me. Also, the shipping is $6.95 instead of $2.50. Hey, if you get it and it's crap, they give you 30 days to return it at your expense. Seriously....charger doesn't work for you and you're out $4. Worth a shot!

2. I like the look of the phone and the fit of my case.

3. A little extra juice (~30%) is worth it for me.

4. Carrying around an extra battery (batteries), turning off the phone, taking off the case, and taking off the back door repeatedly does not appeal to me. (The door was not designed for daily removal. Plastic wears out quickly.)

5. Overnight charging... not a bad thing.

maybe if i just kept a charged one in my glovebox - i wonder how well it would keep the charge for when i need it.

it would keep well but don't store it at 100% charge, let it get to around 80% then store it. Also temp can affect the cells, info at the link
