So Verizon pushed some early upgrades I guess because of the iPhone. My contract isn't up until like December, so I was already willing to wait, but should I jump ship super early and get something else? But that would leave me with the Bionic or Thunderbolt. Should I wait to see if the Merge comes out or what?

Should I just stick with the Fascinate or what? I dunno if ill end up doing anything you guys recommend but I like getting ideas!

honestly, if you wanted an iphone all along, you might consider going with that.

but realistically the thunderbolt isnt a huge upgrade (one could argue sidegrade) from the fascinate...and the bionic may lauch in late q2, who knows. the merge is a downgrade (but with a a slideout kb) that may never launch of verizon, but just alltell

i would stick it out if i were in your situation, unless you really dont like the fascinate for some reason

Why is Verizon only doing early upgrades to iPhone?

Anyways if I was in your shoes..... *a cloud of imagination*

1. I would definitely upgrade to the iPhone
2. ESN Change back to Fascinate
3. Sells iPhone!
4. Change all that money into one dollar bills to make it "rain"
-If making it rain aint your thing then goto step 5.
5. Buy lots of ramen to prepare for 12-12-2012
-Else if, stop at step 3. (or gets thunderbolt)

*cloud of imagination pops* /end

Don't know why I didn't think about making a profit in the first place. Thanks.

I guess I'll debate whether to do that or just wait so i can actually get an upgraded phone.

Do either of the new phones let you do something right now that you can't do with your Fascinate? if yes, then upgrade to that phone.

Are you anticipating any new phone that might be coming out later this year, when your upgrade really takes effect? If yes, then wait.

Do you want to be "bleeding edge" with new ROMs, new OS versions from devs, etc.? If yes, then upgrade to something Droidy that gets the new software ported by the clever guys and gals.

Do you think that the landscape might change in the next few months with something coming out that we've not yet heard of (answer is, of course, yes) AND do you think you might want that? If yes, then wait.

Personally, with all the new announcements about dual-core and quad-core chips, and new screens and such, plus new Android hints and rumors, I'd be tempted to wait until later in the year and see what shakes out. Plus I'm more to a pragmatic guy - my phone does the stuff I need, and I haven't rooted, and I don't dink around with it too much, other than using it for games and calls and texts and reading. So I tend not to have the "tech lust" that others have for newer gadgets.

I like the idea of selling the upgraded phone, but you would also be without the next upgrade for another 20 months, and something may come out that you would like.
Is there something the Fascinate does not do? Issues? I personally would wait a couple weeks at least to see if Froyo does get deployed starting the 22nd. If it gets delayed longer after that, then maybe it is time to do the upgrade.

sure you can wait a few months to see what better comes out, but then why not just wait a few months after that to get the next best phone? with android nowadays if you want to wait for the next best phone, you will just be going in a loop cause every few months another phone comes out that is labeled "best android phone ever".

See, I'm not that patient though, lol. i was just going to wait til the dual cores came out or wait for the Merge if it was going to get an official release date.

Thanks guys for all the advice. To be honest I am completely satisfied with my fascinate, just waiting for 2.2 update. The major thing is, that me and my brother are on the same plan or whatever. When he switched to verizon, I used his upgrade to get the fascinate, and gave him my eris. So when I upgrade, he'll either get the new phone or my old one (he's only 14, so yes, he gets my handmedowns).

To be completely honest, I was even looking at the droid X some more and I'm pretty sure I'd still be completely satisfied with that or he would. But with the new phones just on the horizon, I suppose I'll wait at see the pricing and such.

Because we're on the cusp of a significant jump (single core->dual core). Unfortunately, Verizon is going to be slow on the leap because of Apple.

The Merge is yet another HTC rehash (Desire Z). Totally pointless -- if you want something like that, you might as well get the Droid 2 without waiting.
