I dont think so for the stock messaging app but if you get handcent or chompsms they have themes

Or gosms. Never used comp but handcent seemed buggy snd slow for me

Yes you just go into the stock messaging settings and turn off notifications.

I wish there were a way, or someone would come up something, to change the stock app colors, because I as well prefer it over all others. I don't like having to have Handcent on my phone just for the ONE feature that I like, being able to change colors. Not to mention, with Froyo, the lock screen keeps showing "27 messages" or whatever, until you go read them in the stock app, because it doesn't recognize the 3rd party ones. I could swear before Froyo came along, there was a Gingerbread theme for 2.1 that someone provided us, and when I flashed that, the stock messaging app was white text on black background. There's gotta be a way someone can provide something similar for Froyo again.

Oh okay I wasn't aware. Well I appreciate your efforts! I didn't know it was a pain to do I just thought nobody got around to doing it yet. In that case I can just live with the bright stock app, or maybe give Chomp a try.

Ive got a nice chomp theme that is nice and dark. hit me up if you wanna try it.
