I know this is alot to ask so I understand if I don't receive much feedback. Anyway, looking up stuff for my Droid 1, I came across all this rooting stuff I had never been aware of. It seems pretty interesting and cool but I'm not very savvy when it comes to doing these types of things on the computer/phone. I've been looking up alot of information and I see some issues with having the build FRG83D.

I read somewhere there was a 1-click easy way to root the droid now but I dont understand some of the guides I've been reading and I really don't want to make any mistakes, anyway I was wondering if someone could take some time out to point me in the right direction and help me root my phone and sort of explain what kinds of things I could do from there.

I dont want anyone to think I've ignored the stickies or anything I just find them a little confusing. Any help is much appreciated

Thanks for the response, the app does not shot up in the market though.

Not sure why it's not in the market... it used to be.

Just download it directly from the link I provided.
You can either click on it directly from your phone (make sure you have a file manager, such as Astro File Manager, which you can get free from the market.)

Or save the file on to your computer, then simply drag it onto your SD card. Then, using Astro, find it, click on it and install.

Easy as that ;)

I found out how to side load an app from the original link you gave me and I got the app on my phone now.

I opened it and hit temporarily root now its just loading so im just here waiting, is it supposed to take a while?

Ok I think it worked, it went back to the regular screen on its own. How do I know if it worked? And what now? o_O

if it worked, you will have an app called "SuperUser" on your phone.

if you do have that app, the next step is to download ROM manager from the market and use it to flash clockwork recovery, make a full system backup, and start testing out ROMs.

No doubt wrong forum for this but perhaps it applies to other Droid's as well. Hello! Virgin Droid user here - 24 hours at best. Somehow managed to move the weather from the home screen? Not the icon, the actual large analog clock with the sun, temperature, etc. WTF did it go? I am slightly OCD and need that on my home screen. Can anyone help? Or direct me where to post? Thanks :D

@ WarJorge: did it work? Do you now have root? I must know. If not, I/we have other means for you to root your phone.

TIA

Yes I was able to, thanks. I installed Liquid Gingerbread v1.2.

Honestly not really sure what I did but it's super cool and my phone is much faster. All the icons are colored green though and I was wondering if there were other themes to apply. I dont know what Kernels are and Im not sure if I backed up my phone or how to do so.

Its really cool I'm just not sure if theres anything else to it that im supposed to do. I mean, even if this is it, its pretty awesome, the animations and the speed is great compared to how it was previously. Just wondering what else could I do now that it's rooted?

Thank you everyone for your help

You should be able to long press on your screen and select widgets and find it that way, but if you have further questions about your phone:

HTC Droid Eris - Android Forums

good luck
