Root Benefits of aligned fat32 worth the trouble?

A well aligned partition (Aligned to the cylindars) can improve performance, sometimes significantly.

There is no need to do as mentioned in the link though. All you need to do is flatten and recreate the partitions in GParted (see my apps2sd+ FAQ) and the partitions will be aligned automatically.

Hope this helps.

Always be usin Gparted, and stay away from rom manager for the task. I've even had problems with bone fide Linux distro disk utilities in the past. Gparted is the only reliable disk partitioner.

True, I used Gparted for my current partition, worked like a charm. Not sure I chose the alignment option though. Btw, does the nandroid also provide a backup of the external partition? Still not sure how to back that up.

I re-partitioned using Gparted and chose Cyl instead of mb...(?) for both Fat32 and the ext4. Didn't see anything about it in your guide, that's why I'm checking.

Oh forgive me, I did say aligned to cylinders earlier. You don't have to do anything, the partition is aligned to MiB automatically. I'm really sorry, I was thinking about something else at the time

The only problem with aligning to cylinders is that it may put a partition in between your partitions which sometimes means the phone can't see the ext partition.

If you havent got this problem, its fine

I'm using the InsertCoin one, but it seems a bit choppy. Didn't flash the ext4no_journal.zip from Baadnewz though, as I was unsure whether to flash it first and then the rom or vice versa.

I thought that this zip is going to re-format the ext4, that's why I thought it should be flashed before the rom.
Btw i s-off'ed today, will I be able to copy paste the Leedroid HTC-IME (BaadNewz doesn't have written Chinese) using root manager, or do I have to use adb? Sorry to be a bother...

Have a look through my posts yesterday.. I linked to where you can build your own HTC keyboard
