Help To Clear up the sim issue once and for all!

Ok just got in touch with my uncle who works for At&t and he's up there in the mobility department. This is how it goes.

Sim card WILL NOT need to be changed until full LTE release. So your sim card will be fine with your inspire 4G

Your DATA plan must be changed. So if your on unlimited it must change to the smartphone personal unlimited for hspa+
If your on the 15 or 25 they must change to the HSPA+ version of those plans or you will not see HSPA+ speeds by end of march.

As of now Baltimore is the only place where backhaul is on.

Any questions ?

Thanks for the info! My ATT account actually still lists my iPhone unlimited data. Calling cust service in the AM and having this fixed ASAP.

So is your $30 plan the grandfathered plan? I don't have that option in my account, only the $15 and $25 dollar options. I used to have the unlimited plan until December when AT&Garbage changed my plan without my consent.

It was but they swapped it to this new one designed for the grandfather plans but to switch it.for hspa+

I'm on unlimited, and here's the three choices from the ATT webpage. There is no "unlimited HSPA+" option.

SmartPhone Personal $30.00N Unlimited
DataPro 2GB for HSPA+/4G Smartphones $25.00 2GB
DataPlus 200MB for HSPA+/4G Smartphones $15.00 200MB

Smartphone personal is for hspa+ click on the description and it tells you right there
So I clicked on the description:
Data Plan for SmartPhones. Unlimited domestic data usage. Only available for upgrades. Requires customers to be on a "Gold List" SmartPhone Plan prior to upgrade to HSPA+ device.
It's not clear what this "gold list" is and searching the ATT website turned up nothing. Guess I get to pay them another visit... the same people who insisted that my SIM card had to be upgraded... sigh.

[in the style of Peter Griffin] Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa...

I've read this thread over and over and am still a bit confused, so please pardon me if I sound like the noob I am at this stuff. I currently have an iPhone 3G and know I am 'grandfathered' into the $30 unlimited plan - but what am I to do when I go the pick up this new device in a couple weeks [as per my eligibility] and tell them I want to keep my unlimited plan? Am I to tell them to make sure I'm signed up for the specific 'Smartphone Personal Unlimited for HSPA+' plan? Again, sorry to beat a dead horse on this issue, but just want to make sure for my personal situation that all is going to be good. Cheers.

This is what it should look like when you login to your customer portal online. Just check and make sure it looks like this, if it does you're good to go, if not you might need to call AT&T. I have unlimited texting for my family plan so my data plan doesn't have any message allotment attached to it.

Sometimes I think pictures work better than words :)

If you get your phone at an at&t corporate store they will take care of it for you. You dont have to tell them anything. I work for at&t as a sales rep and when we upgrade you to a 4g phone we are forced to change u to a 4g data pla.
