Help dinc reboots when used for over 15 minutes

Hello all,

Sorry if I am reposting this question, I could not find an answer anywhere.

When I use my Dinc for about 15 minutes (casual web surfing, nothing else running in background, no widgets at all). It would reboot and continue to reboot until I let it cool off.

I am using the stock 2.2 rom but rooted. I bought this the first day it was released.

I really need to use the phone for work so rebooting is unacceptable for me. I am worried and was thinking could it be a battery issue (replacing it might fix it?) or find a way to underclock the cpu? Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

It should never get hot enough to reboot when normally using the phone on stock processor speeds. Did you have the issue before rooting? There's no reason you should have to go through the process of underclocking your phone(that's like putting a band aid on a broken arm). Need to find the root cause(battery, bad app, etc).
I'd try a new battery and see if any apps are constantly running, try a factory reset as a last resort(unrooting will factory reset it), or have verizon replace it.

Absolutely unroot and swap it. I had the same problem, but non-rooted. No matter how many factory resets I did, running the phone with no additional apps, I was stuck in reboot hell. It was even "nice" enough to erase ALL OF MY PICTURES from my SD card. Awesome, huh? I had had the phone for quite a while and it came out of nowhere. VZW exchanged with no issues.

So I went to a Verizon store and told them my phone reboots every 10-15 minutes of usage. So the customer rep used it for 9 minutes and gave it back to me saying nothing is wrong. 5 minutes after I left... it started rebooting... sigh

So I called Verizon and after less than 5 minutes of talking to them, they are sending me a replacement overnight :).

My concern is will the replacement be a refurbished phone or new phone?

planning to go get mine replaced with a refurb now that it's back to stock. only concern is the refurb will have the same problems =/ the overheating was ridiculous

It would take a major stroke of bad luck. An overheating DI is the exception, not the rule. I'm not saying it doesn't happen to a few phones because we've heard of it here on occasion but to get two flukes in a row would be highly unlikely.
