So I am going through my battery like crazy these days and I have been doing some research on new buys for extended batteries for the G1, couldnt really find anything without sacrificing weight, look, and girth. So I figured why not just buy another OEM 1150mah battery, from Newegg who sells them from HTC for only 14.99

I know it might be a bad idea but until I can see a higher mah battery for the G1 would this be a good idea to just get a spare battery dock charger for my extra battery and just swap these babies out during the day to keep my G1 going?

Oh I found this as well to charge both my g1 and my extra battery :)

Is this too good to be true? less than 30 bucks for all of that???

I wouldn't recommend anything but an OEM battery for your G1. Cheap knockoff batteries may work fine, but there's always a chance they could short, meltdown, whatever and that's sure to void your warranty and ruin your phone. I got a spare OEM battery and between 2 batteries I can pretty much go a full day without charging. The price at NewEgg isn't bad at all, and they ship fast.

@ ben - if you charge the "second" battery, how long will it hold the full charge while not in the device? Could you leave it in your car's glovebox for a few weeks? Just curious if you only swap daily and how do you charge both of them?

When I first got it, I didn't swap it out daily since I was near a charger. Putting it in at the end of the week it was at something like 86%. Your results may vary.
Still looking for a decent, but cheap standalone charger, anyone have one?

As of right now coming off a full 7pm til 7am ac charge, I have 23% left according to battery manager, with everything low no wifi, and I'm at work sneaking my browsing, I made one 10 min call during lunch and that was it, so very light browsing and its almost through already at 3:20pm....lol gonna buy 2 spares from newegg tonight using my preferred account and then get a standalone spare-charger off ebay for like 10 bucks.

no truth in the free battery rumour
i called and the woman agreed it was a poor battery life, saying she had the phone also and just advised me on things to do to conserve battery life (basic things like turn off 3g etc)
i asked if there were any plans to hand out new batteries in the future and she said she didnt know for sure but it seemed unlikely, and that future updates were likely to work to improve battery life.

nothing abnormal i guess.
dont see them giving out new batteries free, the logistics of something like that seem impossible

New battery graphing app...I am hoping that sheds some light on things too.

I have switched to the thicker option with a 2200 mAh battery and am very happy .... no special conservation measures ... and getting about 24 hours use before I connect a charger and even then I still have 25% on the Power Meter ... which translate to 50% if i was using my old battery ...

The extra thicknest is really not bothering me...

I said my battery was not holding a charge for very long. I was asked if I did this and that, which I had already done. (screen brightness, turn off 3g) They sent the new battery (it holds the same charge) and said keep the old one as a spare. You have to go through G1 tech dept. to even get any where. Once there they were very helpfull.

Once again, the battery they sent me was the same as the original battery. Not a higher capacity battery.

The bugger about this, is I have missplaced the old battery somewhere, LOL.
