is anyone else like myself who has been following this thing since last October about ready to move on to something else?

i went with droid life and never really believed the 14th as a possible release date. i thought the 24th would be a go but then i read Miami's comments about getting a Gmail late Friday stating that the 28th would be it. the 28th does look plausible but vzw usually releases new phones on Thursdays. I'm almost ready to give up on the thunderbolt altogether!

if this would have released last year it would have been an amazing device. but bigger and better things are getting closer and closer. i haven't made my mind up yet but if this gets pushed into march I'm done. that would put me waiting until January to upgrade again instead of august like i originally planned.

i am a little upset that the release has taken this long (been following the t-bolt and eligible for an upgrade since Nov), but there really is no other viable option for me. at&t and sprint have terrible coverage in my neck of the woods and every other phone currently at VZ is year old tech. the waiting sucks, but i keep trying to convince myself that it will be worth it in the end.

AT&T terrible there too?
I thought it was just Columbia :D

I guess I will have to wait..... what more can one do? :(

yep, VZW is really the only acceptable carrier in the upstate IMO.

and at least the people on this board are mostly keeping a cool head about delays. if you want to read some over the top stuff, check out the androidcentral t-bolt forum here:

HTC Thunderbolt - Android Central

every day the "release date" gets pushed back further and further over there. i just read a thread swearing mid-march.

The wait actually is for the better, or not a VZW issue.

1. Better chipset. Would have had the 65nm version, so not much better than the Inc and worse battery life.

2. No LTE

3. VZW never stated dates, but folks at blogs and forum threads created dates without letting VZW know ;)

Added: Forums would be boring without item three.

i bought my x not long ago off contract. while it works really well it has a loose headphone jack. i bought a pair of bluetooth earbuds thus solving my problem.

i guess that finally after nearly five long months of waiting i have just had it and am growing spiteful. the inc2 is looking good at this point.

I have moved on to The Atrix 4g, ATT works better in our Area, I have too use the network extender at work to get any service with Verizon, I still have my ATT account with my wifes phone on it, we also have a ATT store, we don`t have a Verizon store, so I just order the the Atrix at my local ATT store last thursday and it has been shipped and it will be there tomorrow, and I went back to ATT because my wife get 24% discount on the monthly bill:cool: so I was tired of waiting and all of the mind games, if you have a phone thats ready release the damn thing, but I`m really thinking there is some kind of issue with the TB but oh well I`m done with Verizon, also before says ATT network sucks, I have never had a problem with ATT service, I only went to Verizon for The Droid Inc. but looks like ATT is going to get Serious about Android:D good luck guys :)

I agree with Digdug...this phone would have been Lights out for a 2010 device, and I mean like a World Beater! As of now, I'm making due with my Fascinate until something really serious comes out...we'll most likely see the serious stuff at the beginning of summer, and then some game changers towards the end of 2011. I understand the whole chasing Technology Game. But the Thunderbolt to me is going to be outdated 3 months after it drops...Please can the Nasty saying Fans not start talking about speeds and 4G, and blah blah....
I'm by no means bashing the TB, I'm mearly stating that the phone is long over due, and there is some serious stuff coming our way very soon...plus $749 retail is basically like Rape if you ask me!

Just a side note: I've stated a few times that I have a friend that does beta testing for vzw phones, he said vzw has been seeing very unimpressive battery usage on this phone...like terrible...and that some software issues is what the hold up is. He pretty much shot down my whole theory of the holdout because of the iPhone 4's release. He also said HTC and vzw have not been seeing eye to eye because of the Incredible screen shortages, and Merge fiasco ....which came with a boatload of GPS issues that to this day have not been resolved. What a shame, the TB was looking really attractive up until late.

Hmmm I guess I don't see the difference between 630 and 750.

However, people are free to do with their money as they see fit, and it isn't for me to "get." I was ready to pay 750, until VZW hooked me up. Win!

How did vzw hook you up? They don't do early upgrades anymore, and they wont even talk about the Thunderbolt if you call them and ask them about it...Better double check what any rep or supervisor stated to you, they have a habit of getting Memory loss when the time comes to go back and check notes for an upgrade.

I am still not sure why anyone would pay 749? If anything I would say open a new line, buy it for 249, pay the 30 for the activation then cancel for 350.

Looking at 630 before taxes instead of 750 before taxes, what is the downside to this?

Yea but ya loose the number...and to me that's not a big enough Difference to loose my phone number. Plus vzw hits ya with one more bill, so it comes out all the same. If it was maybe say Oct/Nov 2010 and it was coming out I'd probably pay the $749 and be done.

The way you said that sounds like you are either filthy rich, spoiled, or don't have a concept of money, no offense meant. I could understand if you don't want go through the hassle of canceling a line or something like that, but the way you say it just seems off.

How do you not see a difference? I am by no means broke or struggling, but I like to think that is because I have been smart with my money, having a good paying jobs has helped too. But saving money when I can, seems like a no brainer.

I guess I just don't understand how to don't see the 120 dollar price difference?

Sorry to disappoint, but I got the early upgrade.

When spending that kind of money, 120 dollars doesn't make much of a difference to me. To each their own, eh?

Actually you wouldn't lose the number, you would open a new line, get the discounted price, then cancel the new line, this keeps your line safe, number safe, and your upgrade date as well.

After it is all said it done, you would most definitely save a 100 bucks easily doing it this way. I still understand why some don't want to go through the hassle, but you would save the money.

No, Bestbuy gave us a lot of false info. Verizon never said when it would come out

While this is true lets try to remember that it wasn't corporate best buy giving release dates. It was best buy employees looking at their screens and making assumptions based on what they saw. Then their assumptions got spread to blogs everywhere.
The last official word on this device was by Verizon saying that when their was real info about the thunderbolt They would release said info.

Edit: sorry oBIGto didn't mean to ramble all of that in response to your prior post just couldn't help myself. It needed to be said somewhere though.

I guess not, if you got the money and don't mind spending it then go for it I say. My wife has made me a tight wad. :D

I understand that. My time is also valuable to me, much more than the 100 or so I'd save with the hassle of opening a new line. Your idea is a good idea, it just isn't my cup of tea. But it doesn't matter since VZW agreed that having me as a customer was worth the early upgrade. :D

I simply provided them with the following math, in a polite manner;

New contract atrix + my early termination fee is 300 less than full retail TB.

They saw the logic and upgraded me early. :)
