Help yet another battery issue

I've had this phone foralmost a year now.
There are periods when I use this phone a little bit, but also periods where the phone just lies there.
At first it would last 4 days without phoning. A little bit of texting and like 15 minutes worth of wifi.
Recently my phone doesn't last 2 day, even without touching it!!!
GPS, Wifi, Mobile internet, all is of...

I installed system Panel and let it run a few days, but it doesn't come up with anything...
When I check the system details on android itself it says
48% mobile stand-by
48% inactive
2% android system
2% Wifi

Is my battery broke or what?
I have a serious amount of apps installed, but as I said, system monitor doesn't go beyond 3% CPU usage

what do you mean exactly?

did you fiddle about with it endlessly by plugging it in, waiting for it to fully charge then letting it discharge then charging until half full before taking out the battery, shaking it about a bit, putting back in the phone the starting in boot mode to check the resistance in ohms and then charging it and discharging it another 50 times before realising that your charger is the real problem and your battery is fried.

my advice, don't bother. it's well documented that the battery life is POOR.

take time to set your phone up how you need it (which apps you really want to sync and sync frequency). resign yourself to the fact that you have to charge it every night and make sure you have a spare charger in the car/at work/upstairs/downstairs etc.

then just enjoy your phone.

but going from 4 day to 2 days after merely a year of having the phone...

4 days? I never had that!

For me, these are the normal times:
Active usage - charge daily.
Passive usage - charge every other day.

This is consistent with your phone doing nothing. Most of the power is just being on and maintaining a connection with cell towers (needed to receive calls and texts).

Based on this, there is nothing wrong with your phone.

You could buy a spare battery if you think the battery is worn out; however, based on posts in this forum and my own personal recollection, 2 days out of a phone that isn't being used is probably about normal. I get about 1 day from mine with usage.

Erm, did you Feng Shui your Desire? That helps just as much as calibration.

Whatever you do don't give your Desire the MMR vaccine as it will definitely develop autism and the battery will drain so much faster.

How about some advice that may actually help?

The cell standby time seems way too high and can be indicative of very poor signal strength in your area. Try setting your phone to GSM only for a day or two and checking if it helps.

Settings>Wireless & networks>Mobile networks>Network mode>GSM only.

Erm yes, that was the point of my post.

In the absence of anything other than anecdotal evidence I feel the need to abstain from provisional acceptance of the hypothesis that calibration improves battery life.

Can anyone verify the claim for this kind of performance other than on a phone that has simply been on standby?

I usually loose something in the region of 8% of my battery for every 8 hours on standby. This would mean that I would have in the region of 76% left after 24 hours - if I did not use my phone.

I have never calibrated my battery and this is what I get.

Imo, all calibration does is move the phone % down so when the battery is 90% the phone still thinks its 100%.

Of course it shuts down earlier too.

Unless the battery lasts only 2 hours, calibration is pointless

This is actually seems perfectly fine for a phone that is doing nothing. On days where I hardly use my phone the Android System rarely clocks in at more than 4 percent and Phone Idle/Cell Standby take up the rest.
