I'm sorry for another topic about battery life but i haven't really got time to browse threads reading post by post on how to improve battery time, as many of you know the Desire HD battery isn't the greatest. I have just received my first trip and call up as a flight attendant, and i actually need max battery life. I've uninstalled all the widgets i don't use/need, took of useless apps. Are there any other things i can do to increase battery life?

Thanks for your time.

Browsing threads would have taken you about 1 minute to find multiple solutions since a lot of the solutions are on the first page... And there is also something like a search button!!!

Doing some effort seems to be really hard these days...

Cheers

Hey, Congrats on the flight attendant job,
I would say; lower your screen brightness to 11% and put your phone in Aeroplane mode.
To be honest your proberly not going to be going on your phone to much on the job so the battery life will be quite solid.
I've been away from my DHD for six hours once without the battery draining, went on WiFi for 20 mins then played on Angry birds for 10 mins. Then left my phone alone for another three hours and the battery only drained like 2%

Along as you bring a charger with multiple plugins/wall chargers aka for different countries... you'll be fine once you get a few mins to top up.

Thanks dude for the congrats, Only real thing I'm worried about is that i have a newborn child soon and want to ring my fiancee probaly 2 times a day for an hour or something to check up, that was my major concern. Because as soon as leaving the plane it's roughly about 2 hour to my flat abroad in Hong Kong. Thanks for the advise nether the less, last question what is this battery training you mentioned? Thanks.

That looks great! Is it rechargeable the actual unit?

Not sure if I understood the question correctly :)

I charge the Gum with my HTC AC charger at home (or in the car).
When I'm out, I charge my Desire HD as needed with the Gum.
The capacity of the Gum is sufficient to charge the DHD 2-3 times.
And the speed of charging is so fast as to charge the DHD with the HTC AC charger.

Seriously - what MitchTurbo said. If you are in an area without any signal (like a plane) for a long time your phone will constantly be looking for signal which eats up battery like crazy. If you set airplane mode on while flying it will make a massive difference. At my office I get no signal and installed an app called Tasker (it's a paid app) that switches on airplane mode while I'm at work. It made a HUUUGE difference to my battery life. Tasker probably wouldn't help you since I'm assuming you fly at irregular times but I use it to switch on airplane mode between certain hours.

I really like Tasker. Although there's a widget you can put on your screen that will put your phone in airplane mode, I have a task (set as a widget) that does this and also turns off GPS, in case you've left it on, and sets screen timeout to 15 seconds. Phone is basically inert and using almost zero battery.

Another task widget switches airplane mode off but turns off wifi, bluetooth, 3g, and gps and sets screen timeout to 15 seconds. Basically it becomes just a phone to receive calls, with a quick screen timeout, which is how I want it most of the day.

Then I have yet another to turn on wireless, set the screen brighter, and increase screen timeout to a couple of minutes. This is my normal "make calls/check emails" setting.

All these are the most common settings for *MY* daily needs/wants and all I need do is touch the appropriate widget on my screen. My battery life is now almost acceptable... ;)
