Replace Motorola Droid with Saygus VPhone?

Has anyone seen the Saygus VPhone? If it releases soon I would really like to take my Droid back and get this phone. I don't care that it is kind of blocky as long as it has Android 2.0 or higher (including Google Maps Navigation). Seriously, the keyboard on it kicks the (edited by mod) out of the Droid. The keyboard on the Droid has been causing me serious grief because I do not like typing on the virtual keyboards and the physical keyboard is so flat and requires so much pressure to press one of the keys that it cramps my thumb up with any moderate usage.

Has anyone heard anything at all about a release date?

I like the droid keyboard!

As do I. But my son's LG enV3 and my wife's Moto Rivol both have more ergonomic hardware keyboards than our DROID. I don't think Motorola used the amount of real estate very wisely when designing our keyboard. It's "ok", but it could be sooo much better. And perhaps the Saygus engineers thought the same. :)

Not a bad looking phone. Nothing that would make me drop the Droid though. It looks too much like all of those LG slider phones that the tweens carry around. Also, I'm not at all familiar with Saygus.

I agree, I can't be seen with a phone that looks like something my kids would use. I want everyone to know I have the DROID. Oh well, different strokes.

You can Google Saygus to learn more about the company. From my understanding Saygus' technology is used for a lot of laptop, government, and business video capabilities. They have been working on the development of mobile phone video capability for quite a while now.

Not only does the VPhone have video capability but it also works as a wifi hot spot for up to something like 8 devices. Pretty awesome! The Droid could never do that either.

As for a release date- After vigorously searching for hours one day, I found two potential release estimates-- one being end of march and the second being sometime in may. However I found in some of the earlier news of the VPhone that it is expected to be launched sometime within the first quarter. If Verizon and Saygus could pull off a March launch that would be great. Then again Nexus One comes out on Verizon March 23rd. So it's not too likely they will launch to major devices at once.

I am very impatiently waiting for this phone to come out. My plan is: Wait until the end of March to see if VPhone will release- if not then I will use my upgrade a little less than a month away from the supposed May release, get the Droid just to have a better phone, then wait and hope that the VPhone does release-- or if there is, by then, a definite release date. In which case I would probably return my Droid and wait for the VPhone to release. Unless of course I fall in love with Droid. :p

Droid keyboard totally sucks. Flat keys equals random typing. Constantly have to back up and redo. Forget it. The onscreen is the better choice. That being said, that new Android phone that looks similar to the Droid, can't remember its name,it's silver...anyway,the keyboard on that thing is ten times better than the Droids. It has nicely raised keys that enable you to get a tactile feel for typing. The Droids are flat and tiny. Impossible for me to use really at all. Devour I believe the phone is called....nice keyboard....

The VPhone will be like the ADP phones sorta. It will be completely unlocked and have root access. Personally I would like to get the Inbrics M1 if/when it comes to the states. Has a Samsung C100(or U100) chipset, Cortex A8 800mhz proc, 16GB of internal storage, 512mb RAM, 3.7 screen, BEAUTIFUL keyboard and it is thinner then the Droid.
