Hi guys, I am a total newbi at this android stuff.
My friend has the hero with 1.5 I have a couple of questions regarding this that I hope you could answer.
As I said her Hero is 1.5 from Sprint
Shouldn't it have automatically updated to 1.6 or higher?
Is there any way to easily update it, and I don't want to mess with a whole lot of stuff.
I am kind of hoping for you have to press this button to update answer

There is no automatic update from Android 1.5 on the Sprint HTC Hero. There is an official update to Android 2.1, but you have to do it manually by plugging the handset into your PC and running software.

You will need HTC Sync and the Android 2.1 RUU executable. I am pretty sure you can find both on the Sprint website. Feel free to ask here if you need any help with the update process. We are always willing to help.

**UPDATE**
I found this link
HTC Mobile Phone Support - HTC Hero? (Sprint) - Downloads
But when I go to the update screen the phone does not have the HTC software button update
Again any ideas would be appreciated

Yes, you found what I mentioned in my previous post. Just install HTC Sync and then run the Android 2.1 RUU executable and follow the instructions.

Let us know if you need help. As I said before, there is no automatic update to Android 2.1 for the Sprint HTC Hero.
