Got It......It's fast....it's really REALLY fast...

Hey man back again, just 1 question, does it alert you of new text messages on the lock screen by briefly showing you some of the new unread text message followed by ... on the lock screen? Thanks. HTC's Sense UI does this on their Sense equipped phones like the Hero and Droid Eris, played around with one once and it was a pretty cool feature.

Actually on 2nd thought I probably wouldn't want that feature on my phone because then if I put my phone somewhere around my house or in my office or desk at work or something and even if I had a lock on it someone could still see some of my business/new text messages on the lock screen right away. :( lol looks like it'll actually be good if it doesn't have it, and I think it doesn't.

Hi 3rd Geer,

Could you please confirm something really quick for me?

I was wondering if the locking system is still there on 2.1.(The pattern lock)

Would you be able to confirm this by going to Settings > Security and Location> Set unlock Pattern (if it's there)

If you are able to set it, could you please say if its the same as other android devices.
What I mean is this:
YouTube - Unlock Android Dream with your own pattern!

Look forward to hearing from you!

Am i in the right forum when i say "there's an app for that" :D

there are actually a few- i have used sms popup and handcent sms and both of these do this, but both also give you the option to not show the message until the phone is unlocked.

It's not a shame, we have a great network that gets all the phones, and amazing ones at that. Got the G1 and introduced and gave Android a chance first, got CLIQ for the social networking people, MyTouch 3G for people who want their own custom slim Android phone, Samsung Behold 2 for people who are good without keyboards and want a Samsung device and now the beauty that is the Nexus one with snapdragon and Android 2.1, and got 3G for the Nokia N900 and soon we'll have the HTC HD2 with a 4.3" screen and snapdragon, but it's gonna be WinMo. :(

Screw Verizon and their prices and their garbage $350 early termination fee. T-Mobile's 3G is excellent where I live and I get it all the time plus it's fast and they'll have the fastest 3G network by mid year with HSPA+ 21mbps, cool 3.5G. Yea yea it might not cover the most range nationally but whatever they got all the best phones and the best prices, prices beat Big Red's easily. Plus they're GSM so yea uhh you know, GSM >>>> CDMA, outdatedass technology. GSM is the way to go...change phones with your SIM card at will...plus it's the global standard. VZW is going to go GSM for LTE anyway. And it's not like Verizon's 3G coverage is great in rural areas anyway, they do just enough by using 1 T1 line just so users can see that 1XEV on their phones.

I mean if you have T-Mo 3G available in your area there's no reason to jump on them, best/most phones, best prices and GSM and great customer care. If you're not and you get Verizon then yea VZW for you but if you have VZW and Sprint then I'd definitely go Sprint because of their nice prices also, nice phone upgrade options and they have the Samsung Moment and HTC Hero which are ok. If the Moment was on T-Mo I would've been gotten it because of the QWERTY but with no beast QWERTY Android phones coming out soon I'll prolly get the Nexus One. All carriers could be better tho in some way.

Yes, screw Verizon and their amazing coverage, phones, and prices. Nice way of putting it.
Do some research, GSM is the outdated one.

I've never liked Verizon in the first place. I feel that while their infrastructure is solid, their pricing is outrageous (unless you have 20% corporate discount... still expensive compared to Sprint though) and until the droid came out, there is really no good phone for them at all (there was a couple decent ones but butchered by their red crap branded UI). So unless you're living at a place where only Verizon is available, other carriers are able to provide you with better value and phone selection.

I feel that Sprint has the best value overall among all 4 carriers but their international support is lacking. I've missed probably 50+ incoming text from outside the country and another 50+ outgoing international sms. Never happened on T-Mobile/AT&T and I'm sending/receiving from the same people

AT&T is the Verizon of GSM price-wise but they have the JesusPhone...

T-Mobile is the value on the GSM arena and if you're NOT living in the western part of US, you will be fine with the 3G and voice coverage. Especially on east coast (where I am right now), they're quite excellent..

By the way, GSM is the global standard now and the future. Whatever you're trying to say, the proof is in Verizon as they're going LTE (evolution of the current UMTS 3.5G) for their 4G selection instead of UMB which is the evolution of CDMA2000. Quallcomm has halted the progress on UMB development as well... So CDMA2000 is going away in this decade :)

PS: how's that SVDO development coming? So you can use voice and data simultaneously... that technology from last decade

Tell that to 80% of the global mobile telecommunications companies using GSM.

The languages appear on my Galaxy too, but there seems to be some miscommunication when it comes to displaying the song titles.

Could you please add the following information to a song's ID3 tag (song title and artist) and tell me if it's displayed in the song title when it's played?

Χάρης

That's my name in Greek, for anyone who's curious :p

The score is 91/100

Also, the third gox is a light grey and the last box is a dark grey. Didn't get the exact colors it says it should look like.

Oddly enough, on my MAC on a land line I scored 71/100 haha. Does this only recognize mobile devices?
The ACID3 test should be for all browser types. I'm surprised that your MAC only scored a 71. Are you using Safari? And the latest version?

From what I've read (and hopefully am remembering correctly), Safari should give a 100.

NEW BUG FOUND

so when you're in the photo gallery and I noticed a few times in the browser, the accelerometer is having some issues. Sometimes it doesn't want to go in to landscape mode when you turn the device around. Annoying!!

That bug could be related to the live wallpaper selection crashing. Not too bad, in terms of number of problems so far.

3rd geer, I think you mentioned it charged slower than the iphone, that's because of the higher battery capacity. Did you get any feedback from people you talk to regarding call quality?

I assume you already knew how many bars of reception you had in the places you frequent, have you noticed a change with the N1?

No feedback about call quality other then the fact that I sounded clear.

As for reception...on my floor in my office ATT is not that great so I'm typically on wifi. Both iphone and N1 show full bars, but not truly the case.
