Help wifi strength

Unfortuantely my wifi is in a part of the house that I can not move. My other phones maintain a wifi signal on the other side of the house while the atrix keeps losing connection in the middle of browsing. The wifi is fine when closer to my router it just does not have the same range as my other phones.

The Battery Profile sets the "specific time period" (phone's idle time) for data connection disconnect, as well as when and how to put the phone into power saving mode. It does not manage "synchronization schedule". If the phone is in "Power saving mode", per the schedule, and set for "Data Timeout" after (15, 30, 45, or 60) minutes, this could affect WiFi connectivity.

FWIW, my Motorola Defy recently received a Motorola update (independent of Android Firmware update) which included a fix for "WiFi connectivity issues". The Atrix may be experiencing similar issues.

Dude it says it right in the profile description.
While phone is not connected to a charger.
Stops syncing data after 15 minutes of inactivity during 0ff-peak hours (10:00 pm-5am) Synching resumes when you press any button. Sync without restrictions during peak hours.

On the other hand the Wi-Fi sleep policy can either put Wi-Fi to sleep when the screens turns off or Never when plugged in or Never.

"Synch Schedule" as it pertains to "when to connect to internet to synch accounts". The Battery Profile does "not" manage that process.

My point is that the Battery profile "stops all data", regardless of connection (WiFi/3G), after a fixed interval...including page loads (stuck status, data streams, etc.). Understood that there is a "WiFi sleep policy" however you still have to take the "system sleep policy" in consideration.

This is assuming he is using the battery profile of Maximum battery which stops all synching after 15 min of inactivity.

No, this is another setting to check, in case the user is still having disconnect issues, after determining WiFi sleep settings as "non-factor". "Maximum battery" is not the only condition that will disconnect data after 15 minutes.

But again, the disconnects may not be a "timeout" issue. It could be software related. FWIW, the Moto update released Jan. 31 for the Defy included:

Software Update for the T-Mobile Motorola DEFY™ 3.6.360

No but during the day which is probably when he is using it the most the Nighttime saver mode wont sleep unless its between 10pm and 5am.

What kind of connection is it..B, G, N? Have you tried changing it, or disabling security (for proof of concept)?

If this isn't an issue for most of us then I would suspect its your router and or bad phone.

There is a free app (several actually) called "WiFi Analyzer". You could use it to check signal strength of your Atrix's connection, "if" it seems weaker than your other phones. Any signal in the (-40dBm to -80dBm) you should be ok. Anything less than (-81dBm) or so is where you may start to run into trouble.

Again, FWIW, I had a lot of trouble getting some phones to connect via WPA encrypted connection, and had to fall back to WEP.
