What Phone Will You Upgrade to in the Next 6 Months?

Just wanted to get an idea. Thanks! To me none of these choices are perfect. My perfect phone for the next six months would have

1. 4"-4.3" inch 960x540 super amoled+ screen.
2. Nvidia Tegra 2 or equivalent
3. Glossy black finish (I know it is cliche, but I like it).
4. Battery size equivalent to Bionic.
5. Unlocked bootloader
6. Made by Motorola or HTC
7. Gingerbread or latest version of Android.

Given the choices in the poll. I will either get a Bionic and live with a locked bootloader, the Samsung phone and live with Samsung not upgrading the OS, or wait for a dual core HTC phone and live with a 480p LCD screen.

I'm eligible for an upgrade but am not going to do anything yet...or probably for a while. I am curious to see what the Droid 3 ends up being, I do like a keyboard.
I don't have, and won't have, 4G here so won't bother with a 4G phone just now.
I also want to wait 'til my current contract is truly up, I will be going the 1 year route this time around.

I can't upgrade my X until 8/9 2012 or some shit like that thanks to Verizon's new changes they have made. But my parent's lines are up sooner and they use "dumb" phones. I will probably just move one of their upgrades to my phone and since 4g is nowhere around my area yet I am thinking I will wait for the Droid X2. That way if they screw up a phone I can eat the difference then instead of a $700 phone. I mean seriously 700 bucks for a phone.

If the Samsung Galaxy S II has an unlocked bootloader then I'm definitely on that boat. If not, the Thunderbolt will likely have almost all of the stuff that the Evo has considering they're so similar (some radio issues will likely need to be worked out between custom ROMs), and the Evo has a HUGE dev community so that'll be my second choice. Even though it's only single-core it should suffice for a very long time.

The Bionic has no keyboard. Sadly, NONE of the upcoming phones do. I'm personally wondering what ever happened to the HTC Merge (essentially a Verizon version of the HTC Evo Shift). I could get on board with that.

The Droid 3 is also looking pretty nice; it's supposedly 4" with a physical keyboard (Verizon's answer to the Epic?). Unfortunately, I will be very skeptical about it because it's made by Motorola.

We'll see if Motorola was serious about "working with developers" when they release the Droid 3 unencrypted. If the bootloader is locked down, then my trusty Droid & I will likely celebrate another New Year together as we wait to see what CES 2012 throws at us.

I'm starting to lean that direction as well. I might be swayed by the Bionic, but if the Droid continues to receive such remarkable developer support I might not have a good reason to give it up for a locked down device.

Any idea how long Verizon will allow us to postpone our final New Every 2 upgrades? Do they have an expiration date of some sort?

Specs on a phone I would like to see:
1) 2x core processer
2) 1 gig of RAM
3) 16 gigs internal memory, 32 gigs external memory card & seamless interagration between the two.
4) 10 MP camera
5) at least 1 MP front camera
6) 4"-4.5" LED HD screen that doesn't need a screen protector
I don't care about the unlocked bootloader, someone will hack it sooner or later. I would like to see someone come up with removable RAM cards so you can add more RAM like you do with SD cards.

one thing that I cant live without in my next phone, is the rootability and romming of the moto droid 1. I loved how many options there where and how much I can actually do with it. other than that the next most important is SuperAMOLED or + screen, 768mb or 1gb of ram, prefereably dual core but single will suffice, a good GPU, good camera.

You don't want a 10MP camera. With the tiny sensor and low end lens, more megapixels will just add noise to the photos with no benefit. 6MP is the most I would want on a phone without a serious increase in technology.

I'm really starting to feel the itch to upgrade my Droid, so it's most likely going to happen pretty soon. I've been on the Bionic bandwagon as none of the other phones pique my interest quite the way the Bionic does. But I'm not 100% sold just yet.

First thing, I need to know what the 4G pricing plans are going to be. So far, they're just rumors. As I don't expect to be seeing it in my area too soon, I don't see paying for a service I don't have. Granted, some of the rumors hinted that they're might not be an increase at all with 4G. Or maybe you'll have the option to turn it on/off. Who knows? Next, I want solid confirmed specs on the DX2 and the D3. These 3 Motorolas really are the only Verizon phones that are interesting me at all.

All hope is not lost for Motorola! The Xoom's bootloader can be locked and unlocked at will, a la Nexus! If they bring that to the Droid 3 or the Bionic, I'm all over that.

The technology is out there. The problem is that they have been using the same lenses since they started to put cameras on phones. If they are serious about making an all-in-one entertainment system, like they've been talking about for years, someone needs to push the boundries. Don' get me wrong, I don't want other things to suffer just for the camera. First and foremost, it should be an awesome phone, but there is no reason they couldn't put an awesome camera, an awesome music player, and some awesome hardware on said phone.

Also, thanks to punching in "Droid Bionic" into my News and Weather app, I keep coming across a website called onlinesocialmedia.net. They have a lot of articles on all these phones, even citing Phandroid a few times. Right now, I'm fiending for any news on the Bionic, which seems to come far and few between, and searching for it on OSM seems to give us more than we seem to be getting anywhere else.

luckily i have 2 available upgrades (hooray family plan), so i can get a t-bolt ASAP and still keep my eyes out for anything that looks like a must have in the coming months. the bionic would be my choice, but the locked bootloader is a deal breaker. i am dreaming of the next nexus device being on VZW, but i highly doubt that will happen.

verizon won't be a CDMA(only) network for much longer. LTE is the new standard, so i am hoping for an LTE Nexus device at some point. whether it would be "available" at verizon or not is an entirely different question.

17mp and very possibly could be in a cell phone (if the phone has the hardware to support it). If anyone could get this done, it's Sony. Quite a few years ago, I had a Sony Ericsson that had a 3.2mp Cyber Shot camera, thing was marvelous. At the time, 3.2mp was about the best you could find in a phone, with the one exception being a 5mp version of the (pretty much) same phone. Man, that thing took beautiful pix, better than any phone I've had, and def better than my 5mp Droid.

I bought my g/f a 15mp camera so I do have access to a digital cam, but having a cell phone with a good camera is a priority to me. I don't carry that camera unless I know I'm going to be someplace I'll want to take pix, so I rely on my phone 75% of the time.

Requirements:

1. It must have an unlockable bootloader / unlocked bootloader
2. It must have at least 1 GB of RAM (not storage space, actual RAM)
3. it must support FM Radio and (hopefully) FM Transceiving
4. It must not contain anything crappy like Sense / Moto BLAH
5. It must not cost more than $300 subsidized on a one year contract, since VZW is doing away with 2 yrs.
