Camera Issues

Every picture I take with my Motorola Droid comes out blurry and out of focus. I've tried taking numerous pictures with the camera and each of them are out of focus. I once got a half decent picture, by snapping 10 photos in a row.

It just seems the auto focus isn't configured correctly, or the Camera is focusing on something in the background, and not on my daughters face, or what I'd like it to focus on.

Any special configuration I should use? App? Take it back to Verizon?

Is your Droid running the latest firmware (2.0.1)? If so, try cleaning the lens with a clean lint-free cloth.

If it isn't, this problem with autofocus is due to a bug.

Yeah, I've definitely tried cleaning it. So the answer is to wait 24.5 days to take a picture?

If you are using a Droid, you should be able to upgrade to the 2.0.1 firmware that fixes this. If you are using a Milestone, you'll need to wait until a good cycle starts again (Tues or Wed this week I think) or a firmware update is made available.

I have 2.0.1, but even the pictures I attempted to take over Christmas on my phone look blurry, unfocused, and terrible.

My wife's 4MP camera took clear pictures without issue.

I would take it back to the store where you bought it and try it against other Droids. It could be that the camera module in your phone is defective.

The camera is never going to compare favourably with a dedicated digital camera (due to the optical restrictions over lens and sensor size that the thin design of the Droid necessitates), but you should be able to get pics in focus.

I have the same problem. My camera worked at one point and took good pictures and video. But about 2 weeks ago the camera has been really bad. When I turn the camera/video on to take a picture/video the screen already shows me a blurry image. I take the shot/video and it is blurry. I don't know what to do.

Also, how do you know your phone has upgraded to 2.0.1

Not sure about the reason for the camera issues, but your "upgrade" should be at 2.1 by now -- if you received and accepted the "over-the-air" (OTA) prompt anytime over the last few weeks. The firmware version is indicated at Settings>About Phone>Firmware Verson.
