FM radio...Connected Music Player...Missing?

Can someone confirm whether the Atrix includes an FM radio? The specs said it should, but people are reporting it's not there.

Also, the Atrix isn't getting the new Motorola Connected Music Player? I thought of all devices we'd see it on the Atrix.

I'M interested in this myself. The FM radio is a selling point for me. Ive seen it in the specs on some blogs and sites, but not listed in others (including Motorola's). I'm curious as to if it's really there and look forward to a review if it is.

There is no FM radio on atrix, that is one of the reason I got the Inspire, However the FM tuner on Inspire is so pretty, very bad receptions.

For when you have crappy "digital packet reception", or a "limit on how many digital packets you can receive before being charged for overages".



I'd be more interested in FM "transmitter" though.

My problem with streaming online (aside from data usage when not on WiFi), is that many live events do not get streamed due to broadcasting rights.

This is especially true for sporting events. For example, during the World Series and MLB playoffs, I could not listen to the game via streaming media on my iPhone without purchasing a MLB branded app and paying for a subscription. The local feed (CBS radio) would cut to the Fox Sports Net national broadcast online. Same thing for almost all other sporting events in the DFW market.

For music, I could care less as I have an ample MP3 collection or will stream Pandora, but I do still have a use for local terrestrial radio (unfortunately). Only real reason that I still have my personal line tied to a Sony dumb phone.

My gym has FM stations assigned to each TV. I haven't ever used it because I haven't had an FM tuner in any phone I've had, but it would be cool and streaming isn't going to help me there.

I agree, what the hell? I bought it thinking it had an FM tuner also but could not find it :/

I installed the CMP and it does have an FM option available, but it appears not do anything, sort of like they're not checking for FM hardware, so it runs, but is inert.

CMP is pretty neat BTW.

I read something regarding a different phone where they were saying that an FM tuner was on the same chip as the Bluetooth and WiFi radios but that they didn't incorporate any drivers in the OS to be able to use it.

If it's the same thing for the Atrix, perhaps there is still hope.

Part of the BT/WiFI subsystem is the Broadcom 4329, which does have an FM component:

I use this currently.. its the best if you are looking for a combo (music + bluetooth) headset..

How is the call quality? I had a Motorola one a couple of years back that I had to ditch because everyone kept telling me they couldn't hear a word I was saying if I wasn't somewhere that was dead silent. If it was windy or it picked up road noise in the car that's all they heard.

The HTC inspire fm radio works great for me and that is the reason I did not get the motorola atrix 4G.

It was no big deal for me, since I mostly listen to my own music from my SD card and streaming Pandora. But, the does have iheart radio app, which in my area, has all of the stations that I listen to. Only difference is that I need a data connection compaired to a radio signal.
