List of quirks and/or bugs

I did the manual update last night and it went very well, but I have been noticing some rather annoying quirks ... but they may be bugs.

I figured we should start a thread for anyone that has come up with things they think are bugs - and also so that if anyone has figured out fixes for some of the other random things that we might not be used to seeing since we were all on 2.1 for so long.

1. The scroll bar is missing in the browser. I have no idea how far down a page goes unless I zoom out ... this also means you can't grab the scroll bar on the right and scroll down to the desired spot.

2. When pinch zooming on a web page, the page will go to a gray and white checkered background and the page disappears until I either keep adjusting or stop. It's quite jittery as well. It seems like pages lock up briefly, even on 4G (and these are not pages with flash)

3. The default web browser keeps opening to the last visited page instead of the default. This is extremely annoying. The only way I can get this to stop is to use the task manager to kill IE (advanced task killer for froyo doesn't seem to work well at all) This seems petty, but the problem is that my homepage was set to google - which loads quick ... if I were at a graphic intensive site it has to load the page again. It doesn't reload it if I come right back to it (say I went to send a quick text), but if I come back 10-15 minutes later it will reload.

Overall my impressions are good - but it definitely doesn't seem quite as refined as my 2.1 experience. It just seems like the phone hangs very randomly.

Any thoughts or anything else anyone would like to share that they've noticed?

emails won't delete in gmail (happening on 2 epics)

When I delete apps some have left blank spaces in the app screens, can't get the rest to shift to fill in the spaces

On some websites if I click a button on the page it launches the screen keyboard and covers half the screen, can't close it without opening and closing the slideout keyboard

Also the live wallpaper doesnt seem as clear either. The water live wallpaper with the ripples and light effect almost seems like it has a darker tint to it. And some of my apps that i had with 2.1 (mens health workouts, jetflicks) are no longer accessible. It was there when i had evo 2.2, but not here with epic 2.2. I dont get it

I booted into recovery and wiped data/cache bout 3 times each and now have a just as flawless froyo as I did eclair. Only one majorproblem. The camera/video camera has horible framerate/blurryness in low light conditions wich is just about all light except for being outside.

tried that once, guess i'm willing to try 2 more times but no luck on the first run.

My camera didn't work at 1st. I completed a hard reset and it came back.

Now my text messages dont always send. With 2.1 it would say the message didn't send, when in fact it did. I have had to power cycle several times to get the messages to send.

(The bubble text sucks and so does the new layouts and auto complete for texting)

ok, so i booted into recovery 3 separate times and wiped the cache and all 3 of my issues were still there. i then did a factory restore - still there. i then installed the update on a different computer and ran the installer from scratch and i'm still having issues.

the quality of this build is really poor. performance sucks. now all i feel like i have is a faster version of my old moment.

I've been havingthe following issues:

1. The screen layout gets stuck while in text or contacts frequently.

2. My calender was wiped clean.

- there were a few others but the slipped my mind

Assuming you sync your calendar with Google, did you clear the data and let it resync? Mine was cleared after the update (actually it cleared out of the blue a few weeks back even before the update) and that worked for me.

Go to Settings->Applications->Manage Applications

Select "All" along top

scroll down to "Calendar Storage", select, then hit "Clear data".

Good luck!

(first post!)

Last night I did the .zip file upgrade from my Macbook Pro. No issues with the upgrade and it took about 10 minutes total. Camera still works, still have all my pictures and contacts, etc. However my contacts are all synched from gmail anyway.
I did have to re-enter my gmail password.

A couple weird things happened today:

1) My phone spontaneously rebooted. It was just sitting there charging on my desk at work, then it reached full charge. A few minutes later it started a series of short notification-vibrations, with the screen blank and the buttons lit up. Then eventually the screen came on and initialized the SD card and other normal bootup stuff. Never saw the Samsung logo though.

2) When I turn on the screen, the blue LED indicator lights up, even when the phone is not plugged into the charge cable. Then it goes out when the screen goes blank. I don't remember it doing that last night. Is this a new feature? Seems kind of pointless. There are no notifications in the notification bar, just the blue LED.

Mine is definitely not behaving that way, that's odd...

Lag is the big thing I am seeing. Time between pushing power and the screen waking up is noticeably longer than with 2.1. Also, GMail sync is far slower than it used to be.

All of that is worth it though for the ability to edit Google Docs in the browser. That was the thing I was most looking forward to in 2.2, and it works very nicely.

Tried that, it will shift icons around on the page, but the blank space remains and you cant move icons from one page to another

Once you select edit, select the menu again and there will be an option to sort a-z. This will get rid of all the blank spaces. And you can move icons from one page to another...just takes a little practice of holding in the right spot to get the page to move.

Haven't had #1, but if you are syncing your calendar with Google, you need to delete all the calendar data on the phone and it should resync and everything will reappear.

Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> All

I cleared the data on both Calendar and Calendar Storage and all my Calendar items reappared after a few min.

1. There is some serious lag when using the keyboard, if you dont type slow enough it starts skipping letters. This is driving me crazy

2. Camera force closes.

3. Gallery says No Images

4. Messaging bubble stuff looks like crap.

I think for problems 2 and 3 you just need to copy files from sd card to the comp, then reformat the sd card, and put files back on to it. I havent tried this yet, i'll have to wait until I get home.
