Hiya,

Long-time lurker, first-time poster, first Android.

I received my Atrix yesterday. Setting up the fingerprint reader worked fine. I was using the fingerprint reader to unlock the phone numerous times. However it stopped working. I powered off the phone then back on. It does say "enabling fingerprint reader" on bootup. Tells me to swipe and nothing. I also tried to disable any lock protection then re-enable fingerprint. Also deleted any saved fingerprints. But nothing.

Is there a process I should look for?

Thanks.

If it is not giving you any feedback about the swipe (Bad swipe, swipe too fast, etc.), most likely it is not recognizing you are swiping at all which is probably a hardware issue. Could be a bad reader, I have had them on laptops before so it is possible. Bring it back to an AT&T store and see if they will exchange it for you.

I think I fixed my own problem. I installed Android Assistant and disabled AT&T Navigator at startup. So I went back in there and re-enabled it, power cycled the phone and it is working again.

I'm not sure why AT&T Navigator is dependent on it. Maybe it is not, but at least it is working again.

Good. But doubtful ATT Nav had anything to do with it. I would keep an eye on it. Could of been a software issue of some sort or the driver just didn't load properly on that original reboot.

Glad its working for you.

I have the Otterbox defender and am having absolutely no issues using the fingerprint reader

sorry, off topic, but do you know if the *car* dock fits in the otterbox? I think all docks are the same size, but not sure.

OP: delete that at&t navigator garbage - it's eating up system resources and will cost you money if you want to use it over the (superior) google nav!

If you have ANY problems with it again, I would just return it while you're still in the no-questions-asked period of time... I'm looking over my phone very thoroughly for ANY trace of faulty hardware, because once I can't just return it no questions asked, they might just think you broke it and not be as willing to help you without charging! Good luck :)
